I've heard there is still a 5-6k minutes cap, 10-12k text cap.

I've heard it's the same cap as Air Voice & Red Pocket: 5,000 minutes, 10,000 text.
If you need more minutes or text then Straight Talk would be a better option as they are truly unlimited in regards to those two criterias (not data though).

    Dear Stephen,

Thank you for your interest in Straight Talk Wireless. We are responding
    to your recent inquiry.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any
inconvenience you may have experienced with this issue.

We understand that you should be able to use your phone for unlimited
calls and the automated text or picture messaging to another mobile
device or e-mail address since you have the unlimited plan. However,
unlimited calls for longer hours have been prohibited because this may
be harmful, disruptive, or interfere with the Carrier?s Network or
Straight Talk or Carrier?s ability to provide service to other
    customers.

Please be advised that Straight Talk mobile web access plan feature
cannot be used to access any applications that tether your device to a
laptop or personal computer other than for Wireless Sync and or cannot
be used for access to the Internet, intranets, or other data networks
except as the device?s native applications and capabilities permit. Once
found the excessive use of this data, we will cut off the data usage of
the phone. Therefore, you cannot use your phone as a hotspot to connect
    your laptop.

Straight Talk phones do not support media flash player and with this,
you cannot play videos using the browser but you can do it once the
phone is connected to Wi-Fi. Please refer to the Straight Talk Terms and
    Conditions for further information.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact one of our
customer care representatives at 1-888-251-8164. For your convenience,
our representatives are available Monday-Sunday from 8:00 AM to 11:45 PM
    EST.

Thank you for being a Straight Talk Wireless customer. We appreciate
    your business.

    Sincerely,

    Straight Talk Wireless

Straight Talk doesn't have unlimited data, you can check the ST subforum here on Hofo to see all the stories. If you use a lot of data, you will be warned and may ultimately lose all data access or be kicked off. Theres now reports that some are getting throttled for excessive data usage. What is excessive seems to be a moving target though, its generally been held that 2GB a month and no more than 100MB a day is ok but that is a very rough estimate.

Airvoice is a much better deal for voice and text. $32,50 after discount for 5,000 minutes and 10,000 texts. I gave up using CallingMart pins with H2O because they never took. I had to call and wait on the phone to talk to a rep and give them the pin. I haven't had that problem with Airvoice so for me its $7.50 a month less. $90 a year less.

actually if you read the very fine print they have say that if to much data is used you will be warned and cut off til next month. they all also are against tethering streaming videos down loading music/movies etc...... but that will all tell you that if the phone is capable of performing a task then it is ok. and when you call them on it they will beat around the bush. that email i posted above was the 6th email i got before they answered the data limit issue of being cut off. i have another email telling me they do not have an actual number when they send you warning.

    Really Funny!
Did you try to email Apple also and ask them if jailbreaking the iPhone or using a Gevey sim voids the warranty on the phone? What would they respond? Have you ever heard of someone who got denied warranty help because they had a Gevey sim in their phone for a few days? Utter nonsense.

Hahaha, come on - give me a break! Of course they would respond like that because they don't want you doing that...but have they ever kicked anyone off for overuse on minutes/text?
IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED and therefore for anyone reading...please disregard the post and email copy above as it's useless information for what actually is going on with Straight Talk service.

No one has ever been kicked off for overuse of minutes and text - the whole getting data shut off, throttled, or being boot off is all in regards to DATA and nothing else within the service.
If we had people posting every thing a Tracfone agent says then you would have a pile of conflicting information, this is why we have the forums here where people share their real life experiences with the company's service. Therefore, it remains that Straight Talk is UNLIMITED minutes/text unless otherwise proven a warning call/text or where someone has been shut off for such! H2O, Red Pocket, and Air Voice have all been demonstrated by users many times as around 5,000 min's / 10,000 text.

have you talked to every single person that had/has ST? if you are not then you can not say nobody has been kicked off for over use of text or minutes. and why should everyone reading this disregard the posted email? it is in their fine print that we all agree to follow but we never read.
