    Monthly 4G and Wifi Hotspot

I see that the Samsung Exhibit II 4G can be used as a wifi hotspot for up to 5 devices. I understand that Tmobile charges an extra $15 a month to do this. Can this be paid for and used in some months and not in others. We travel and it would be nice to have the wifi hotspot service for a month if we are on the road, but not have to pay for it in months that we do not need it. Is this possible?

I used Monthly4G as a hotspot on a custom ROM and never got charged.

I'd use it and if they ding you for that month that'd be exactly the scenario that'd work for you.

You should be able to remove/add the hotspot feature whenever you like. Its prepaid so you choose what services you get when you pay. I have personally never added the hotspot but I would imagine if you remove it on the day your month ends, next month will go back to charging you the normal Monthly4G price.

Btw, I have the Exhibit II and i've rooted and frozen the tethering manager, no problems here using hotspot. However, I don't use it alot and only in a quick emergency. Haven't received any blocking messages or anything. But to avoid doing all that and the fear they may block your hotspot someway while you're using it... it may be worth the $15.

As I understand what I have read here, the Exhibit II is locked by Samsung so that pda net will not work - and that it requires rooting the phone to remove the lock. Eventually, I might root the phone, but to start out, I would leave it just as it comes.

Try Fox Fi. You don't need to root and it works fine as a mobile hotspot on the Exhibit II.

Yup, Fox Fi works. No detection so far by big brother.
