But either way I don't see how it could possibly be true.
I don't see how verizon can make more money this way, if they let you choose whichever is best for you as a new customer. I can see they letting older customers keep and work with their old plans if they want to for a bit, but not for too long.

Honestly they haven't told us a lot of information at store level yet other than what's been posted. I'm almost certain the old plans are going away though. Documentation states that 65+ Plans and Nationwide Mexico and Canada plans will still be available and unchanged. That to me says the rest won't be. It also states customers on old pricing will be able to move up or down in their current plan set which all tells me others won't be able to get that pricing. One question I still have is whether someone can add a line to an old plan or will they have to move to Share Everything to do so.

Looks like the only things we are sure of is what's posted on their website. So much speculation going on and two diff reps may say two completely different things.

    Yep, signed and sealed.

The entry price is $40 + $50 for 1GB on a smartphone, unl text and unl voice or $90 per month. On the old plans the unlimited text and data was $99 alone (+$30 for 2GB or unlimited for those around long enough) = $129 so they act like they're doing you a favor. Fact is, the voice & text are used so much less these days that's why the value of it has gone way down so they're forcing you on the unlimited to keep income higher.

I pay $35 for voice (300 mins, but use no more than 200 a month), $10 for 1000 texts (never gone over 750), and $30 for unlimited EVDO data ( I use >20GB/month), so the new plans do me a huge disservice.

The reps are starting to get the information that we all have which is nice, but the rep I was speaking to was telling me I didn't have to lose my unlimited, get a discount and not change my plan which that made me go because if that was the case, why are people freaking out. Sure enough I told her to check with her manager & she came back with what we all exactly already know. She was able to offer that the stores will carry CPO handsets for those that don't want to used eBay, craigslist, etc., but I'll just pay full price and keep my unlimited data.

CPO handsets from Verizon aren't that cheap. March of 2011, Verizon was asking $255 for CPO Moto Droid 1's.

I understand this may work out for some, especially family groups. However, I am one of almost 50 million single adults in this country. Surely, they'll offer individual plans.
I'm in the same spot (droidx, 450, unlim) as you, and my upgrade isn't until October. Any idea what you're going to do?

I think from now on we won't be able to by subsidized phones without losing this plan. Looking at their plan calculator switching over and getting 4GB (I always go over two but rarely come close to 4) my plan would go up $16 before taxes (including asurion and after my emp discount)

To me the verizon network is worth a premium but I guess it comes down to how much more is it worth? It's prob different for each person and to some it may not be worth a premium at all.

Consider your future data usage too in any calculations you make. Verizon has and you should too, because data usage is going up for all customers and you most likely will see yourself using more data as time goes by. I seriously doubt most customers need unlimited voice. My guess is that more customers need unlimited data vs 1000 text for $10 with overages, unless they use some internet messaging platform, such as FB messenger. But data, that's where the real growth is going to be. So don't be overly hasty in giving up your unlimited data.

If they kill my unlimited or raise my rates then I leave, simple as that.
    Home ISP, RR-Ultimate WiFi, $90/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited

    School, $5,000/semester | Work

You'll be fine as long as you don't try to get a discounted phone after 6/28 - and for your particular line of service. The policy is really clear that as long as you pay full price for the phone, or bring a used phone from elsewhere then you can keep your unlimited. The only thing that I'm still not entirely sure on is for family plan users whether adding a new line on the old plan is allowed. If it is, it's definitely established that new lines require the tiered plans as unlimited on new lines has been gone for some time already.

I'm personally still unsure on adding data plans to current dumbphone lines as well. Twitter VZW support keeps changing their answer, the Training Materials only talk about upgrades available for "Unlimited Data Lines", and store workers and customer support can never be trusted. We still need verizon to clear up a lot of stuff here with an OFFICIAL PR announcement.
