Not that this justifies their actions, but I am curious. How much data were you using?

Hey guys, I've been skimming through the thread just wanna toss in my two cents. I know I'll prolly jinx myself with this post but so be it. I've had straight talk since feb 2012 on my iPhone 4s...I've been consistently using around 2200mb of data a month. Very unevenly though. Some days 300 some days 200, some days 100, some days none at all.. I've only gotten about two calls from I believe straight talk. I don't pickup 800 numbers I wait for the voicemail if it's a pressing matter. I googled the number and it came back as "straight talk scam"...so I figured they were telemarketers. I don't remember the number exactly but I think it might have been the one on this thread. No voicemail either...I think it's just the luck of the draw who gets called. Don't worry and keep using your service. Also maybe someone can confirm this, isn't net10 the exact same service ? Now with their autopay it's exactly the same price as ST...something to think about..in case..

NET10 is the same exact service. Tracfone runs the NET10 and Straight Talk brands.

Just use a different credit/debit card and name I've heard they have tracked banned st users trying to get on net10 etc I would avoid simple mobile they just bought them out and they will probably integrate with straight talk in the future.

America Movil keeps good records. If you abuse one service, you can and probably will be blacklisted from their other services as well. Some have success with different addresses and credit cards but YMMV. They are known to be pretty ruthless when they identify someone as abusing them. (No refunds, loss of account/phone number, etc)

Also keep in mind that the $40 "3g" plan is throttled to edge speeds. To get TMO true hspa + U gotta go with the $60 plan. Will be interesting to see what Carlos does with SM. I'm sure that in the not so distant future SM's customer database will be cross referenced with Tracfone's. Watch out for the tentacles.

Yeah the $40 is limited to about 120Kbps not exactly earth shattering speed. Depending on your data needs it may suffice, however, and if T-Mobile has good coverage in your area/where you need it, $5 is $5.

But when the data speeds are s*** who care if there is a known limit? Rather have reliable data and have a somewhat known limit then have crappy coverage and data speeds with a known limit! But it's up to you

The ability to use any smartphone and get the same service as postpaid wouldn't give that up because I can't go stupid crazy with data!

I guess what bugs me most is that even if you didn't use any data throughout the month and use less than what you would in an entire month (day to day use) streaming a show on Netflix or something they won't let you...

Oh well, at least it's only $40 a month. Wishing republic wireless got off the ground!

I'm in the same boat.. in April I did 2.1GB 3 days before the month ending and they cut me off.
I spoke with them hard to answer a bunch of questions etc.
Now this whole month of May I been throttled.
My speedtests are less 1mbps down while upload is still ok, all my apps updates take so long, browser, etc.
I have to have wifi enabled now at all times whenever I'm indoor.
This month I've done 5.9GB on WIFI and 250mb on 3G. (of course I abused the wifi on purpose) but first time I did 2.0GB, i usually kept it btwn 1.0-1.9gb every month and I been with ST for a year now.
