I have been asking a lot of questions here in the last few days. We are deciding to give up our contract plan with Sprint and go to Tmobile Monthly 4G. We are switching over two phones so while I may go with the Tmobile Monthly 4g, I have to make sure that at least one of us has a phone that will have voice service in most areas that we travel in. Tmobile talks about voice roaming but is not definite if it is on the Monthly 4G plan or any of their no contract plans. I know that Tmobile regular service roams on AT&T. Does the Monthly 4G also roam? My concern is more stuck at the side of the road and need to call for help to Emergency Road Service than to make general phone calls.
voice yes data no.
Thanks. That is good to know!
Does text also roam?

Voice roaming is on an area by area basis; it isn't universal. It could end up being quite a patchwork.
T-Mobile Prepaid does not roam as extensively as Postpaid. In fact, it roams very little relatively speaking. And data is not available whatsoever while roaming, Voice/SMS only. I am told there is some AT&T roaming but it varies wildly depending on region/area - here it will not roam on AT&T or any other GSM only on the T-Mobile "Affiliate" and Voice/SMS only.
I asked this exact same question at the official T-Mobile forum and a representative there confirmed that voice roaming is available on prepaid plans. He referred me to the prepaid coverage map here: http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-coverage
According to that map, data roaming should be available too, but I wouldn't count on it being at all usable. If you're able to connect at all it'll be slow and probably has a low cap.
