I honestly have no idea. The performance varies quite a bit. There are times where I will hit over 5Mbps and other times below 1Mbps. What's really sad is when I see my upload being faster then my download. 0_o

    Hmmm, maybe.

I concur, I was there in Febuary this year and Seattle for AT&T was ROCK solid as anywhere I've ever been on their network; including Atlanta.
You know times have changed, when the iPhone isn't the top dog anymore.

Seattle actually has some LTE from AT&T active around the Microsoft Campus in Redmond. I would guess Seattle, Salt Lake, and Miami are next on the list for LTE from AT&T even though they aren't announced yet. I know work on towers is going on in Philly.

Fiber backhaul for Verizon in Southern Illinois in 2013 - about time.

Yep I saw that on the coverageviewer.....though for some reason it doesn't show anymore. Maybe they are hiding it until the whole area lights up.

One strange thing I've noticed with an AT&T iPhone vs. a Verizon one. Is that iMessages are less reliable on AT&T. I know it's not a big deal because a minute later or so messages will be sent as SMS. But never the less, it's strange, Verizon iPhone iMessages went through 100% of the time. AT&T iPhone iMessages go through...I'd say 80-90% of the time.
I did read somewhere that it doesn't matter if you're on Wi-Fi, AT&T still sends iMessages over their network.

I never have issues with any text messages on imessage. :/ Sounds like a phone issue. iMessage requires a DATA signal, or it won't use it.

When it works it's faster than regular SMS. When I had Verizon and used it between Verizon iphones it was quick. And it works the same with AT&T iPhones. But as I mentioned it's not as reliable on AT&T for some reason.
Another plus I've found with it, when you text someone new you can tell if they to have a iPhone.

This is why I'm going to hold off on switching until there is VoLTE so calls aren't on CDMA and data on LTE (but both on LTE.) As AT&T is now, calls and data both go over "3G" UMTS/HSDPA and sound better than verizon CDMA in my opinion. Even GSM sounds clearer to me.
I have friends on Verizon, and I feel like I always have to have them repeat what they are saying, constantly. I'm not sure if it's their choice of phones or the network, but it has been this way for years.

And once there is VoLTE, I'll evaluate then how AT&T and Verizon are on build out. So far AT&T's HSPA to LTE strategy is working for me. I don't need ridiculous LTE speeds for my needs.

I am in India right now. Their 3G is on the European band (2100) so it's not quite out in many rural areas yet. The big 3 networks of Vodafone/Airtel/Idea have a 3G roaming pact so all of their customers can use 3G in each state (Not all providers ahve 3G licenses across India). 900/1800 is used exclusively for EDGE and GSM. Speeds are crazy fast HSPA+. Even EDGE isn't too bad out in rural areas. Vodafone IN had coverage in more rural areas than Verizon does back at home and they are a 1800 provider.

And from what I can tell, MTS/Reliance CDMA/ Tata indacom are the CDMA carriers and they are even better in rural areas since they use 850 frequencies like at home. EVDO Rev B is even being deployed! I left my iPhone at home so I can't test the CDMA networks here.

US cell service sucks in comparison. Overpriced too. 1GB of 3G can be had for less than $5 on the big 3 networks, and less than 1-2 dollars on a network like Aircel. Oh and voice cals back to the USA are about 12 cents a minute. ((Of course as a whole, Indians are paid so much less than US citizens, $5 can still be a hurdle for some))

Yeah same here as well.... iMesages have been very reliable over AT&T for me. Although on a rare occasion I will get one that will slip through as a regular text message. I've also had no issues iMessaging with Sprint and Verizon users.
