There is still a subsidy built into the unlimited data pricing and accompanying voice plan. Just that those on tiered data are paying back the subsidy at a faster rate, since those on the $30 tier lose corporate discount pricing and potentially pay for exceeding their allocated data. Verizon is still making money on the unlimited data plans or they would completely eliminate them as contracts expire.
if the new plans start with at least 5GB it may not be too bad. I'm considering going back to Verizon amongst other carriers
your correct with that. but under the new pricing system the subsidy is the tiered rate. of course there making money thats there job. there thinking is if 4gb of data is worth 30 a month your getting a deal at unlimited at the same price point theres no need for a phone subsidy. they have a point. what i dont understand is everybody and there mother knew the unlimited plans wouldnt last forever. what difference does it make if they start phasing them out like this now or next year?? the same people would be complaining if they did this next year full well knowing it was coming. we ALL knew this was coming. but verizon actually gave you a way to keep your unlimited plan, something they didnt have to do and wasnt overly expected. for some reason its not good enough. someone else said it you cant have your cake and eat it to. people should be happy there is even a way to keep your unlimited plan they didnt have to do that.

Your grammar is as offensive as your common sense. It shows in both cases you aren't good at either and isn't exactly something to be proud of.
You're obviously just here trolling and spouting useless gibberish I don't think even you understand.
You think people should pay more for less because you're obviously jealous you can't yourself. Not their fault.
So I'm guessing you're gonna pay for better grammar lessons with all that imaginary money you think you're gonna save with this? The reason grammar is important is because otherwise most people otherwise have to try and decipher what only you know you are saying.
I don't think even you know what you're trying to convince others of. You seem to think only 4 people on HoFo will be affected by this which shows your ignorance. It's MILLIONS of people. Not just a handful.
The majority of those on 3G are Unlimited data users. Which is where the majority of people still are, on 3G and not 4G.
So if you're so happy for those being forced off their grandfathered unlimited data plans and happy you think you're gonna save a ton of money on plans and their prices you know nothing about....then why are you here?
Fact is, you seem to think people should pay more and get less which shows just how little you actually understand things.

ill go thru these one by one it should be fun.
im jealous now...if i was unhappy with my service and wanted unlimited data i would leave to a company to get unlimited data...make sense to you? guess that defeats that.
2. sure ill pay for grammer lessons. since your obviously an english professor how much do you charge? this would benefit both of us. id get the grammer lessons that you think i need and you would get the extra money to help out with the verizon bill your complaining about. just one question to make sure im hiring the right hombre. your english degree is from which university?? thata what i figured. but back on topic i never said id save a dime. im not out to save a dime with this. if a shared family plan saves me a few bucks so be it. if it doesnt ill stick to paying what i am now for data either way im fine. thats currently tim 2 you 0.
3. EVERYBODY knew this was coming. verizon made zero promises to you on your unlimited plan. again if you would read what i said i said its the same 5 people COMPLAINING about it. not 5 people affected by it. i will ask again does it matter if they start this now or next year? EVERYBODY knew it was coming.
Tim 3 you 0
4. your not being forced off a thing. verizon gave you a way to keep.your unlimited plan which was not expected by alot of people. they didnt have to do that. you can keep your unlimited data plan all you want. this affects your current contract zero. do you even know what your complaining about? again im not out to save a dime. im perfectly happy with the contract i signed. if a family share plan saves me money again ill move to one. if i find it dont fit my needs i wont and ill be fine paying the money i agreed to when i signed my deal. who are you to tell me what works for me?? as for "why im here" i been on and off these forums since 2007. ive seen many original good members leave and not come back because they turn into the "i want more so and so sucks gimme gimme gimme" rants. ill ask again what has complaing on howard forums gained you in your problem you had with verizon? has verizon contacted you because they read your post? or do you just want everyone to know your angry? either way it seems you still have a problem that isnt solved. only you can decide what works for you. if you dont like verizons new data plans dont renew. if you dont want to pay full price for your phone to keep your unlimited dont renew. whining about it on phone forums accomplishes zero. make the best choice for you and move on. you are a grown man whining on a phone forum because verizon didnt give you exactly what you wanted. if i need grammer lessons what lessons do you need??
thats tim 4 you 0![]()

What does everyone think the shared gb will start at? On a family plan of five lines you would need a decent gb amount.
Guys and Gals, everyone has their opinions here. Let's just keep to the subject matter.
Anyways back to the subject. Like I said, Verizon's way of letting you keep your unlimited is fair.
Look, even Amazon's deals (like the 1 cent deals for Android phones from time to time). Amazon forces you to change your voice and data plan to the currently available options. Or you could be subject to a secondary $250 ETF (or $200...I forget) if you change or don't keep the line active along with the data plan for 181 days.
Verizon is at least giving you the option of keeping unlimited data (at a price). Take it or leave it.
It will make some people angry. But the majority of people will just move on.
You have choices. Take what they offer or leave. Unless there is a mass outcry about losing unlimited data that say NBC, ABC, CBS news reports, than Verizon and other carriers do what they want to do.
The $2 fee was reported heavily in the media. The mainstream media reported the $2 fee. That's the key. Here the unlimited data issue is really just reported on techie sites.
Wow, I just read this. This royally stinks. Unfortunately, I do rely on those subsidized prices so come fall, I'll be losing my unlimited plan.
Ugh. I wish VZW could let us keep the plan and upgrade with it and just throttle it at a certain point. I am okay with being throttled, not okay with being on a plan with insane overages. I just wish we had a choice.
Sent from my VZW Thunderbolt.
Let's just see what the tiered data plans are.
Verizon should offer at least 3-4GB/$30 LTE for individuals and at least 5GB/$50 shared data for first two lines
Have you ever experienced throttling? You don't want it. I get throttled daily. The reason is I use up to 4GB/mo on my unlimited 3G plan. I have a razr maxx, advertised with tons of goodies that use data. Well, if I use my phone as it is designed, with all the bells and whistles, I go over 2GB/mo easily within the first 2 weeks. problem is, Verizon throttles into the next billing cycle as well(punishment) so once over your Flucked. I live in Central Oregon, no 4G. 3G speeds here are awesome, unthrottled. I usually experience .08mbs download speeds. Frickin' awful. I call Verizon to complain and they say the network is busy and it is being optimized and that at over 2GB I'm considered a heavy user. Heavy user???? 2GB with a modern smartphone does not a heavy user make, Jack. (I say). Oh, I can help you, (they say). let us upgrade(??) you to a tiered plan. So for 50 bucks, I can go tiered $20 more than I pay for unlimited. IMHO this is their way of getting the so-called heavy(over2GB)users an incentive to dump their unlimited plans.
I would gladly pay the current $30 I pay now for, say, 5GB of unthrottled bliss per month. I can wish, but I doubt that deal will happen. In the meantime, the only time I'm not throttled is in the very early am hours or when I go somewhere else where the towers are less busy or jump on wifi someplace.
So, if you've never been throttled your lucky. I'm hoping 4G comes soon to Central Oregon, by years end they say. I doubt 4G will remain un-throttled for long tho once it starts to get congested. Verizon just wants everyone to upgrade to it. Then Throttle the crap outta em. Make em go tiered, that's where the bucks are for them. If they didn't have such awesome coverage I might go elsewhere, but it is a phone first after all. my .02
