That doesn't look too appealing. In fact it looks more like Verizon (read: terrible) pricing to me than AT&T.
What does it have that will compete with the likes of AirVoice/H2O?

Yeah, the video game retailer.
$20 a month - 10 cents a minute/text, $1.50 per MB
$35 a month - unlimited talk/text, 30 cents per MB
$45 a month - unlimited talk/text + 100MB
$55 a month - unlimited talk/text + 500MB
$55 a month - 1GB data only
That doesn't look too appealing. In fact it looks more like Verizon (read: terrible) pricing to me than AT&T.

What is the $20 a month plan for? It doesn't seem to come with anything but the bill.
The $35 for unlimited talk/text is competitive but other than that no great shakes. Just my opinion I'm not following rates like I used to.
Saw this yesterday on Engadget. Thought it was interesting, but I guess it goes along with them (Gamestop) buying and selling used iPhones and such. It looks like they are trying to get into a little bit of everything being that the future looks dim for physical media when the next gen gaming consoles come out.
... and I stop reading right there. Let me guess, not even rollover and $1.50/MB??
So no PAYG plans? The article in Engadget mentions something about a $5 plan but I can't find any information about it. It seems they haven't setup a webpage yet.
EDIT: I found it. Gamestop Mobile plans
Why these people now insist in calling monthly plans PayAsYouGo? They are NOT!!.PayAsYouGo
GameStop Mobile Pay As You Go
GameStop Mobile Pay As You Go Plan is .10 cents per minute Domestic Voice, .10 cents per text message sent or received.
Each time you refill, your airtime is good for 30 days from the date you refill. If you refill on or before your expiration date, your balance will carry forward
Airtime is available in the following denominations: $5 / $10 / $20 / $30 / $45 / $50 / $55
Included on all plans: Caller ID, Voicemail, Free Long Distance Calling.
International Calling is available- see International Calling Rates
International Text Messages are .20 per message sent.
Any way, there is balance rollover but I don't get is what the $5/$10 lower refill denominations are for. In case I run out of minutes before the end of the month? I assume they will not make the balance to carry forward. But even if they did, still is a bad deal for light PAYG users. Airvoice is still a better option if you want to use at&t network.

And we all know how well MVNO's do (I'm looking at you Tuyo Mobile.)

Well the AT&T ones are pretty stable, it is the T-Mobile ones that shut up shop.![]()
They have the standard Att vanilla mvno plans. I think their physical retail presence is a big edge and the fact that they can rely on their game revenues to carry them for a little while till the mvno side gets stronger. I don't think they intend it to be a main service but a strong secondary one at this point. Time will tell. I hope that they allow indie dealers to sell it but I somehow doubt it.
Those plans are not good for who their aiming at if they plan to sell used iPhones and androids 500MB a month won't please most gamers who probably hit 2-5gb a month on game downloads and movies. Plus to play the latest mobile games you need the latest phones I think this will fail unless they make some quick changes.
