    Question Copying root

I bought a new Optimus V then I also bought an Optimus V that was rooted and running CyanogenMod 7.

Is there a way to copy the root and CyanogenMod 7 from one Optimus V to the other?

On the rooted phone, make a backup in recovery (called a nandroid backup), then root the second phone and restore the backup.

This is the closest you can get and it's not a good idea, as it will copy your apps and data as well. Plus, if the rooted one is an older model and an older rom, it could case the second to show a blank screen (if it's a newer model).

I think after you see how much better the rooted one works, you may want to.
Rooted ones have up to twice the battery and can run (up to) twice as fast.

The stock phone is actually pretty poorly setup and loaded with junk.

Is it possible to delete the junk without rooting?

    Unfortunately, no.
Plus, you will never get as much out of it just by rooting.

Root it, and put Harmonia 1 on there, it's stock, but with a few tweaks and all bloat removed. It's much easier to install than trying to find all the junk you can and can't remove on your own.

Just read and go slow, it's quite safe really.
I think after using your rooted one, you will be amazed at how bad the stock one is.

How badly can you mess up or ruin a phone if you make mistakes when rooting? I just don't think I can type all the code that is needed to root, with the Optimus V keyboard, without mistakes. I wish I could just copy and paste.

Also what source do you recommend to follow for rooting instructions? I've googled and I've found numerous sources.

It's a simple process but as to how badly you can mess the phone up if done incorrectly ? You can permabrick it into an expensive paper weight worst case.
