Help- Locked Iphone 4 32GB - Locked to Softbank Mobile in Japan- How to unlock

Howdy, I have a Locked Iphone 4 32GB. We have traced the IMEI number and found out that it is locked to a phone company in Japan called Softbank. I am located in British Columbia Canada and I have been told that, because our Basebands are different that I cant use the phone with a North American carrier. I was wondering if anybody would like to buy the phone or possibly be able to help me unlock the phone.

I suggest you run the IMEI of the iPhone through this first http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/support/3G/restriction/ Then see if it's worth unlocking or not.

Whether it's restricted or not shouldn't matter. That only applies to the SoftBank network, and obviously OP isn't looking to run it on SB if he wants to unlock it.

OP: Post up the baseband version and iOS version.

Does SoftBank even unlock iPhones? I never thought they did but I may be wrong. And of course, depending on what baseband you can do a software unlock.

OP pm'd me his baseband number, it isn't unlockable afaik. Maybe someone else knows for sure (I've never had to deal with locked iPhones hahaaha): 4.12.01

SB doesn't unlock iPhones, not officially anyways.

I asked where it's from because to have a Softbank iPhone out of Japan means either it was sold out of Japan (unlikely) or was lost or stolen, and then sold on.

I have an iPhone 4 which I want to end the contract of. It's not unlockable in any way, shape or form.

can't you just jailbreak it and the SIM unlock in the process??
