    Try the Franco kernel that DroogBC suggested. I'm using his setup (Franco kernel + UGLC1 Radio + AOKP Build 36) and my phone is working good so far *knock on wood*

    Trinity FTW. Amazing standby and can routinely get 3-3.5 hours screen time with moderate to heavy usage.

    Do y'all create nandroids before flashing a new kernel?

    It's probably not a bad idea, but I haven't been doing it lately.... I just keep on flashing Franco's nightlies when they are released.

    I do have a backup that's a few weeks old though that's there if I happen to need it.

    Just checking in to say that this is affecting me too.

    I started having signal problems with stock everything (locked 4.0.1 yakjuux). Sometimes data would drop, but more often full signal drops. Coming out of the subway I could not get a signal back without rebooting. There would be airplane mode wonkiness (phone is in airplane mode without me asking for it).

    I unlocked, flashed AOKP build 35 and the UGLC radio. Now I can connect to WIND via HSPA+ (HSPAP:15 in the *#*#4636#*#* Testing menu ). Worked better, doesn't drop signal completely as often now, but under certain circumstances it will drop the data, just as OP described.

    I will try this Franco kernel and AOKP build 36 and report back.

    FWIW, stay away from Franco 163... the data drop issue came back with that release. 143-162 didn't have any data drop issues for me though.

    For the record, it was always connecting to HSPA+, but the RIL was reporting it as HSPA, so the OS also reported it as HSPA.

    I have Franco 162 + AOKP 36 + UGLC1 and it was working fine for the past 72 hours. My data signal dropped this morning and I had to toggle airplane mode to get it back on.

    I'm hoping this may just be a one time occurrence. I'll leave it as is for now otherwise I'll try out the Trinity Kernel in a few days.

    @icemasta, I'm assuming its this one? http://www.derkernel.com/ics-tuna.php Latest Release - May 23 2012...

    Yep, I had this.

    Use the UGLC1 radio and the Franco kernel.
