I just activated mine over the phone an it couldnt have gone better.. Total time took bout 5-6 minutes tops. I called the 1800 number an got transfered to a csr an I told her the activation code was not working. She said its quite common. Supposably the sim cards arent getting scanned rite before they ship. She asked for sim #,imei# an the faulty activation# Thats it..She then wanted to know wat plan i wanted an i asked for the walmart $30 plan. She said ok an there you go. Just had to wait for 30minutes to recieve a text with my new number. I refilled over the phone *233. Couldnt be happier at the moment with fast 4g on a Sgs2 for $30!

How can i port my number to this plan after its already been activated? Do i need to call customer service again or can it be done online?

call CS. See the *very* recent thread here about exactly that.
Hello,
Please forgive the newbie question. I have never owned a smart phone or been on a pre-paid/PAYG plan.
I would like to sign-up for the $30 Wal-Mart plan. After reading reviews online until my head swims, I have settled on the Nokia Lumia 710. But I don't want to pay $349 from T-Mobile.
Am I able to buy a used unit for about $200 on eBay, buy a SIM kit from T-Mobile online, then activate the phone (getting a new number) on the $30 Wal-Mart plan?
Yes, doesn't matter which phone it is as long as it works with T-Mobie. The SIM kit comes with its own activation code and you can set up the whole process online. You could even port in an existing number by activating the SIM card.. getting your new temporary number and calling in to T-Mobile to start the port process.
Also.. there are 2 $30 plans that you will see in the Plan options online.
The so-called "Wal-Mart" exclusive plan of 100 mins/Unlimited txt/5GB Internet
and
1500 mins/text + 30MB web.
The Wal-mart plan will only appear once when you activate that SIM card.. new activations only.
Good luck!
Thanks!!
I have one last question, please.
T-Mobile is GSM, and Verizon is CDMA. If T-Mobile reception is inadequate in my area, I will switch to Page Plus. Some websites state the Nokia Lumia is both GSM and CDMA (UCDMA?) Others state GSM only. The truth is???
Here's the spec sheet from Nokia. It shows GSM frequencies 850, 900, 1800, and 1900.
It also shows "WCDMA", Bands I 2100, II 1900, IV 1700, and V 850. Is that Verizon (Page Plus) compatible?

I'm doing the same thing and have a couple of questions for those in the know.
Any idea how long out after I activate new service that I can port my existing # over? I'm on AT&T at the moment and my contract expires next month. My plan was to activate the $30 plan and test it out for a month on my Gnex. If everything works well I would port my number over after my AT&T contract expires in late July or early August. Could they still do the port after the $30 plan has been active for a while?
If my wife is already on pay-as-you-go with Tmobile and gets a new sim and activates it what would be the possibility that she could port her number from the existing pay-as-you-go to the new $30 plan? Anyone done this with success?
Cheers,
Robert
yes, porting has nothing to do with how long the accounts have been active.
Also, see the VERY recent thread about moving an existing t-mo number to the walmart plan.
Appreciate it. My sim should be here tomorrow so I'll start testing then hopefully get my wife on the new plan with her phone.
"Yes, refill dollars applied to your account ALWAYS count toward the Gold Rewards status; however, you are not eligible for Gold Rewards UNTIL you change to a Pay As You Go rate plan."
So...does this mean the Gold Rewards is useless on the $30 Walmart plan? If you convert to the Pay As You Go Plan, don't you lose the unlimited data and text?
I mean what exactly does Gold status get you on the $30 Walmart plan? Thanks!
Gold Rewards is irrelevant on a monthly plan- you don't need lower per-minute costs (with the $30/100/5G plan, minutes past 100 are $0.10 anyway), and you don't need a year expiration on your balance because you re-up every month anyway.
Thanks for the posts here, today, I went to Walmart and bought a Galaxy S2 for $300+tax, went home, use the web activation link posted here and activated it online (it came with a new SIM card in the box). Then I bought the $30 monthly plan from callingmart.com for $28.50 (after discount), use the pin to pay at the end of activation and I'm now all set.
