    Phone cancelled without warning

My phone stopped working this afternoon all the sudden. After calling customer service, I found out that it's cancelled due to "excessive internet usage". This troubles me a lot because I don't even use my phone that often. I have a blackberry and it's only used for email and streaming music while I wait for the TTC. I've never received any warning about my internet usage. To make matters worse, I'm currently taking summer classes in Victoria and now I can't even resolve my issues till August while I return to Toronto. Thank you mobilicity for screwing me over

This seems odd... My understanding was that they tend to just throttle.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on. The CSR kept on telling me that there's nothing she can do. I even got her name and employee number. When my phone went into SOS mode this afternoon, I assumed my-wallet ran out of money because I'm roaming in Victoria. When I tried to log into my account, it says account inactive and call CSR. That's how I found out my phone has been cancelled. I'm thinking about calling my credit card company to reverse my payment for service not rendered.

Not really. Mobilicity has done this before to a couple users here on HoFo.

?! How can a blackberry download so much? Do you tether or connect your computer to your phone?

Can you ask a csr how much data u used? I stream radio all the time I never heard a word from mobi ever. Streaming radio alone won't make them disconnect u

To people who only used data as little as the OP claims to have? If so, that's... Not good. Did they lose their numbers?

It's obvious that Mobi is trying new ways to conserve data on their network. For example, they're stripping the 'y' and 'o' characters from people's data streams. Tsk, tsk Mobi, I expect better from you!

No, I don't tether to my laptop. All I did was listen to music and email. The CSR was pretty useless. She wouldn't tell me anything just kept saying there's nothing more she can do. She also had the audacity to complain about my phone connection being bad. No sh?t, I got no phone and had to use Google talk on my laptop to call them. I'll try again tomorrow to see if I can get someone else.

So how much data did they say u actually used? (U bad boy!)

Mobilicity frees Canadian cellular smartphone users - or at least - till one of the big 3 gobbles them up!

I would pursue this with them. Who knows, might be a mistake.

Let's be honest though, when you were back at home, how much data were you using?

email feedback @ mobilicity.ca right NOW. The email goes to CCO, COO and CEO. It looks like there has been a mistake. A lot of us stream radio on our phones, and this never happened! (in fact, for what I know, most people who got kicked out used > 100 GB of data!!!)

For example, they're stripping the 'y' and 'o' characters from people's data streams
Its not always easy to type things on a touch phone. Thats one reason I hate a touch phone. I would love a physical keypad (with T9)

@messupdude I don't have his email but I tweeted him, hopefully I can get a reply

@bluenote73 honestly, only email and streaming music. It's a blackberry, obviously there are twitter and facebook running in the background but I don't think they would consume much data.

@xtachx thanks for the email address. I just email them, hopefuly I can get a reply to get this resolved soon.

Are you in the G.T.A. anytime soon? If you are in this region, I will try to help you in this matter. Shoot me a PM with your details and I'll contact as many people and do as much as I can for you.

I also have partner stores in pretty much all Canadian coverage spots so I can try to help you in other geographical locations.

Please write in this thread about about

    1) how much data you use on average
    2) what your usage stats have been lately
    3) Which plan you have and how long you've had it for.

Also, where is this Victoria you speak of?
