Will BB10 phones be able to Read and Operate Android apps?

It appears no one is developing apps for BB anymore. Will BB's OS 10 be able to run Android apps?

I ask this because I understand those with Mac computers can run Windows programs. Will BB apps designed for OS 5, 6, or 7 run on BB10?

T-Mobile lines on unlimited "family" plan - me, wife. Cost is about $80 a line incl. 5GB/mo. data on each line. We have had no landline in 7 years

Even if it can't, it wouldn't matter that much since more and more developers are signing up for native development anyway. PlayBook 2.0 already has Angry Birds, Cut the rope, Fruit Ninja and more - basically, the games that has a large install base. It should be a breeze for devs to repackage it for BB10.

Blackberry users aren't normally kids using their phone to play games. It appears that virtually all serious apps being released are for iphones and Androids. None for BB.
If BB10 isn't designed so it can operate Android apps - as devoted as I am to BB, if it looks like none of the apps that have been released in the past year or two, as well as the future can be run on a BB - I'd probably have to switch to an Android.
My guess is that all the old BB apps that can run on OS 5-OS7 would have to be re-written for OS 10. If I recall, BB released their tablet w.o. many apps that could run on it.

I believe with the following criteria that existing BB OS Developers & BB10 Webkit (HTML 4.x & HTML 5), native and Adobe Air/flash developers will make compelling apps for the new platform.

RIMs promise that a signed app available in AppWorld by a developer/team will be awarded $10'000 cheque - if sold more than $1000 - if not already sold $10k in the first year.

An incredibly designed hardware with top marketing and global availability with highly competitive pricing. By this I mean RIM should be willing to take 1000unit hit before profits occur.

New platform to hook in to buyers, easy brand name recognition (developers').

RIM does not want to get into a legal battle with developers on that promise, and it's a heavy incentive.

In 2012; mobile applications is a 6.7billion dollar market that continues to grow.

Ah but what about FREE apps? That's all most of us really care about anyway right?

The above replies do not look encouraging. If dvelopers aren't writing apps for BB now - why would they in the future? Trying to entice developers w. incentives will not work. That's why I think the only hope is some kind of software add-on that can operate Android apps.
Virtually every app you see now is available for iphone and Android. Nada for BB.

An example: Barnes & Noble's app no longer runs on BB phones. Only Android and iphone. Amazon books still support BB. So does Pandora.
Be interesting to see if they support BB10.

Except for a few large main apps, I always get frustrated by the free apps or games. Never designed as well as you want. Whether this be on Blackberry or even the AppStore with Mac.
