Probably because it would be abused by many, which would slow the network down. People don't want to be paying good money a slow data connection all because of a bunch of bandwidth hogs who try to replace their home internet connection with a smartphone.

I'd have no problem with throttling after an allocated amount such as with Wind (thought it is a softcap) or TMobile USA, it beats having to worry about overages.

Agreed. Considering that Koodo doesn't give you anything more than a $150 phone subsidy, soft-capped unlimited data for $30/month, if not, $35/month or at least $30/6 GB is very doable (someone on here keeps claiming that he got $25/6 GB plus free Caller ID/Voicemail 10 (at the time it wasn't free and City Koodo at the time included unlimited text/picture messaging) by calling in but he hasn't shown any proof that you can do it).

I have "only" used 270 MB within half my billing cycle. So I don't need anything more than $20/1 GB (data saver $20/1 GB flex tier) at the moment. But I have noticed that my mobile data use has been trending higher and higher. When I was with WIND/Mobilicity and Koodo at the beginning stages, I'd use about 200-300 MB/month. Now I'm trending towards using over 500 MB/month (I'm on the $15/500 MB data connect) unless I cut my data use to stay within 500 (I'll try to take advantage of Wi-Fi more. There were some places I frequented where I didn't know they had free open Wi-Fi).

As smartphones become more and more integrated into our lives, an unlimited data plan with a "full speed" 6 GB mobile data cap (rest throttled to 256 kbps) would be a good counter to WIND Mobile's offering.

Aside from the more expensive bill (compared to WIND Mobile/Mobilicity. Though I do take advantage of Koodo's unlimited picture messaging. And thats 20c/MMS with WIND) and the limited data, I'm very happy with Koodo. With City Koodo, I can just make and take calls and not have to watch the clock. I just have to make sure to add the $2 long distance saver add-on (for 5c/min Canadian long distance) if I am outside my local calling area or need to make Canadian long distance calls (I also use a keepcalling local access number for 1c/min Canadian long distance. But I prefer that the people I'm calling see my number).

Considering the limited subsidy, I'm possibly not really saving money with Koodo (my bill is $55/month for City Koodo Unlimited + unlimited text/picture messaging + 500 MB mobile data. $57/month + 5c/min Canadian long distance if I need Canadian long distance) compared to Rogers/Bell/TELUS. But I'm certainly getting more value for my money with the unlimited airtime. The Bell/TELUS Fab 10 gives you 200 daytime minutes plus unlimited calling to 10 numbers (thing is, you're only allowed to change those numbers once a month) and 1 GB. Which may be enough. But I have the cash on-hand to buy phones outright and I like the peace of mind of unlimited airtime, not being tied to a nasty contract AND having a reliable, national network (TELUS). So Koodo works for me. I wish Koodo was more competitive with WIND on mobile data. But I take it that WIND Mobile/Mobilicity/Public Mobile aren't putting enough pressure on Koodo to encourage them to start offering soft-capped unlimited data or even $30/6 GB.
