Bringing Verizon Iphone 4s to ST

I am currently grandfathered into the Verizon unlimited data plan and just found out they will be forcing people off this plan with future upgrades. So I am now seriously considering ST, however I just purchased an almost brand new Verizon Iphone 4s and would like to know if can be used with ST. I called verizon and requested to have this phone unlocked which they authorized. But after reading several threads about the verizon unlock it seems it's only unlocked for overseas carriers and not what I was hoping of a true unlock. So unsure if it can be used with ST. Can anyone confirm this? Also is there anyway I can eventually use the verizon Iphone 4s with ST? If the new jailbreak comes out for my phone and I successfully do so, will I then be one step closer to unlocking this phone? I see there are several sims that are currently unlocking the att and tmbile version of the iphone, will this also work for the verizon version? What type of speeds can I expect in the NYC area with ST? Will they be decent ATT 3G speeds? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i am not an iphone user but the cdma phones do not work like the gsm/sim cards you can bring to ST. someone told me that around july ST will have two smartphones. a higher end one galaxy s showcase and the proclaim that is here now. so you are not out on the street without options.

all the att phones get fast 3g sppeds. just dont stream, or make really long phone calls or tether.

I read about the data not being truly unlimited, but CALLS TOO? this is ridiculous! I thought all versions of the iphone 4s were the same exact phone, in fact they all have sim.

You would need a radio unlock in order to use a VZW iPhone on a US GSM carrier. I have never heard of this being done. It may not be impossible, but it would be by far easier for you to sell it and buy a AT&T iPhone.

As for phone calls, I have never heard of anyone being shut off for excessive minutes. You would be good for at least several thousand min a month.

Since you just bought a relatively new iPhone for use on Verizon, there is no immediate urgency to leaving because of future changes in upgrade policies.

I just bought the plan from someone and took over their plan liability for the sole purpose of unlimited data. I then purchased an iphone at a resonable price off craigslist. It's not my first 4s, as I owned the sprint version (sprint plan prior to this) but later returned it due to the crappy speeds. The verizon one is okay, but I am a phone fanatic and essentially will want the next big thing, like iphone 5. So the urgency is there if they don't honor the unlimited data and I don't want to go back to sprint crappy 3g speeds. Sprint 4g was great, but after owning many phones including the SGii on Sprint, I have returned back to the iphone once more. I move a round a bit.

they arent going to force you off your unlimited plan unless you get a subsidized phone. So allit means is subsidized phones have ended for verizon unlimited users.

i did not say anything about minutes. i am relying on the email i posted in the forum.

long phone calls is what i said. i would guess your teenager with broken fingers so unable to text has multiple conversations of several hours long...that would be against the tos.

i did not think this up.. geez. this is from ST creative minds.

You can use Gevey SIM to unlock CDMA jailbroken 4s to use in a GSM network. Read below,

    http://www.applenberry.com/gevey-ultra-s-cdma/

Quick Overview of GEVEY™ Ultra S for CDMA iPhone 4S
It's here! The new GEVEY Ultra S Multi-Network unlocks your CDMA and GSM iPhone 4S. It's a true plug-and-play unlock for GSM iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.1 and 5.1.1 and will unlock jailbroken CDMA iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1 (Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 and 5.1.1 not available at time of posting). Please follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/applenberry for latest update on IOS 5.1 and 5.1.1. The GEVEY Ultra S is a thin microprocessor that sits between your network SIM card and the base-band hardware, allowing you to use your GSM and CDMA iPhone 4S on all worldwide GSM networks.

Afsalva beat me to it... you just have to be running an IOS version below 5.1 (so if you've got 5.0 or 5.0.1 you can gevey unlock it to run on GSM networks.)

The reason you can do this is the iPhone 4S cdma version has both CDMA and GSM basebands in it (making it a world phone.) With verizon or sprint you can unlock the phone to use GSM internationally, but it will not work with AT&T/T-Mobile. Get the Gevey sim and you're able to run it on any GSM network you want.
I buy broken/used iPhones (4 & 4S) on any carrier! PM me info about your phone and your asking price and I'll get back to you!
