How do I avoid rooming charges in Europe.
I have a SIM card from Telestial. The SIM card comes with a global phone number (UK based) and you can request a USA phone number at no extra charges. I choosed the Passport Lite option: cheaper internet, higher voice and text rate.
In most western European countries you can surf the internet from USD $0.39 a megabytes. So far, my account goes down by about $10 per 24 hours. I did shut down all automatic updates. I'm only using Facebook app and the web browser. If wifi is available, I'll use it. Most of the time it's not... Or very few are secure. Better pay than be sorry.
In order to use data, your smartphone need some manual set up. The instructions are clearly explained on telestial.com website.
And yes, there is an app for that. I can check my balance and recharge my account directly from the simply design android application.

seeing as the OP never returned, as many guessed, the Thread has run its course.
