New to ST and need to transfer contacts

Just bought a Samsung Proclaim today and got service started. I had my number ported from AT&T from my old Samsung Eternity. My problem now is trying to figure out how to transfer contacts. The contacts are showing on the Eternity, but don't see any way to bluetooth them to the Proclaim. I never had data on the Eternity. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this since my service with AT&T has been turned off?

Sorry if I am asking in the wrong forum, but just wanting to get somebody's opinion that has already done it with this phone.

    Thanks,

Not familiar with the eternity. is it an android phone? if so, you can copy all your contacts to a memory card: go to contacts, then hit menu then import/export, select export to sd card (make sure a sd card is present on the eternity) and when its done, just take the sd card out of the eternity, insert it on the new phone and do the same but this time select import from sd card

Unless you had your eternity sync with google, thats easier, sign in using your google account and all your contact should appear in your new phone

The Eternity wasn't an android. It was before them. It is a little over 3 years old. I only had data on it when I first got it but had it removed shortly after that because my area was too slow. It does have an sd card in it, but I don't know how to find the contacts file. All I can see is to send them 1 by 1 by bluetooth and I don't really want to do that.

BTW, here is a link to the Eternity. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1831

if you can find a copy of pc studio and have a copy of microsoft outlook you can sync the phone by cable to outlook. then you export a cvs file from outlook to the gmail account associated with your phone. it automatically will show up on your new phone.

You should be able to transfer contacts via the SIM. You will need to start by putting the SIM card back in the old Eternity phone.

Follow these instructions for copying your Eternity contacts to the SIM card.

Now, swap the SIM back into the new Proclaim phone.

Follow these instructions to copy the SIM contacts to your Google account.

I am facing this issue as well, having just ordered two Proclaims today. If, as a poster above indicated, you can export a CSV file and get a contact list to Gmail, then I think I can make that work. At least I did somewhat over a year ago when I copied my VZW phone contact list to my iPad.

    This guide may help:

I hope it's as simple as I recall.

Ah.. so once I get the updated contact list over to GMail, I can then use Google Sync to load them to my ST 'Droid?

Here's what I did, I downloaded Google Sync on my blackberry and Sync'd my contacts to Gmail. Then I signed into
Gmail with the Proclaim and synced data from there.

The contact transfer went reasonably well. I had to correct a number of the contacts as the imported data sometimes went into the Note/comment column rather than the mobile or other phone column. For future purposes, I need to see what column titles the data should fall under for GMail to recognize and correctly place the imported data.

I used blue tooth to move contacts from my LG511C to my Proclaim. Worked great.
