Nokia Lumia 710 from TM and GoPhone

Someone here in my town has a brand new one they got from TMObile and they changed their service to someone else. TM says this phone can be used for contract or prepaid service. If that's the case,I was wandering if that means only on TM or can I use it with ATT GoPhone? Does this mean it's unlocked if it can be used for either? Not cell phone savvy. TIA

If it is unlocked, it will work on either service, AT&T or T-Mobile. If it is locked to T-Mobile (which it is by default), then it can only be used on T-Mobile. If you have used the phone on T-Mobile's network for at least 60 days (I believe), they will unlock it. Otherwise, you can get an unlock code from an unlock site for a fee.
