I don't know if the phone reception on this particular model is bad or maybe I got a defective phone.
I had to call Virgin Mobile about it because I had problems with my data. It keeps switching 1x to 3g to 1x and so on....
I thought it was solved but it was not. Than I found out I can not place and receive phone calls so I have to call them again...
Now it's still doing 1x to 3g to 1x and so on...
So I call them again and I thought it been solved but I still have the problem.
Anyone else have this problem before I call them again?

Have you read the rules lately? They're usually in a sticky at the top of the page.
If you have a problem with a post for any reason, please report it rather than responding to it, and a moderator will be along shortly.
When did you get it? If it's within the return period then return it. If not, call VM and ask for a replacement, or you could always go the root/ROM method, which may fix it.

My 3 Triumphs couldn't find a signal if you were standing next to a tower.

Thanks for everyone's replies!![]()
My gf and I had the same problem. 3G > 1X and back, all the time. We returned them -- we tried them when they first came out. Very happy with our Optimus Sliders now.
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is my drug of choice.

Posted this on android forums too, but my Triumph always did that. I assumed it was the network vs the phone. I don't recall thinking it was any worse then the OV I had before, but honestly I don't remember at all. I didn't use data on the OV much, it didn't have flash, couldn't run Netflix, I didn't stream music, and it was too small for nav. I don't recall getting any kind of decent (1-2mbps) speeds on VM until recently, which is also when I've been more aware of the huge swing those speeds take.
If it's actually a Triumph problem, I guess I misjudged the network? I'm getting consistent T-Mobile speeds now, so I guess I'll never know if it was just the phone.
Long time lurker, who had to register to respond to this thread. The Triumph is a hunk of junk. I've owned three of them and each one of them had the same problems with dropping signal on a certain stretch of road, that I drive everyday. Low and behold, I return the triumph, purchase an Optimus Elite, and places where I never received any signal have an abundance of it. Seriously, return the Triumph, use some of that money for the awesome Optimus Elite, and save yourself the time of dealing with that horrible faux Motorola phone.
I doubted some of the members on this board, when they mocked the Triumph. "They couldn't be right"; I kept telling myself. Guess what? They were right. Using the Optimus Elite after the Triumph, is like being freed from crappy phone jail. Seriously, ditch that phone, and purchase the Optimus Elite unless you the EVO V.
I can't get past that 320x640 screen on the Elite. Other than that it sounds like a good buy.
It is small, but it looks better than the Triumph screen. Seriously, the leaps and bounds of the Elite over the Triumph, still blows my mind. If the size of the Elite does not work for you, then return that sucker for some cash towards the EVO V on the 10th (Or Thursday at your local Boost/VM store). The Triumph is simply not a good phone, and no one should have to suffer through it.
I never really thought it was bad until I got something else. I ended up ditching VM for TMo and a Galaxy Nexus. I really notice now how fast GPS-based apps lauch, like getting traffic on Maps, or finding a cheap station with Gas Buddy.
It would give me a little buyer's remorse to know that all my data inconsistencies were due to the phone vs the network. The network was decently fast sometimes, maybe with a different phone that would have been true most of the time. But there's no turning back now, and honestly I never got good connectivity at home with VM, occasionally not even voice service. TMo may turn out to be disappointing too, who knows. But so far between home and work I have always had 500kpbs+ speeds, sometimes as high as 7mbps. Even the low end of that is fast enough for most things, save streaming video.
Worst phone ever - I regret getting it even at the Cyber Monday price. I feel cheated. I should have went with my gut and got a couple of Vs instead, but I was like one previous poster here thinking that all the negative reviews were people belly-aching. WRONG!.
My second Triumph is sitting in the closet collecting dust - alongside the dead first one. They didn't even want that one back on a warranty exchange.
It is so bad I dread having to use it as a backup phone. I'm tempted to cut my losses and trade it in at Target for $45 and use that money on a V or Intercept. I'm back on my rooted Intercept now but its been through a lot and won't last much longer. I'm hoping to make it to next Cyber Monday and pick up a Slider
