Has my iPhone been hacked? A recent experience has me worried.
Recently, while out with a friend, I went to check my phone and found a strange text message had been written in the text messaging app, as if I wrote it. It was several lines of what appeared to be an ad but it didn't really make sense. I forgot what exactly it said.
Has anyone experienced this? Or has any knowledge as to what happened on my phone?
If you're not jailbroken, there is virtually no way that your phone can be "hacked" as long as you retain physical control of it.
Do you have another iOS device, like an iPad? Do you use iMessage?
Worst case, if you're worried, is just plug it into iTunes and restore it. iOS is a pretty secure operating system, as long as it's not jailbroken.
Not that I'm against jailbreaking, but once a phone is jailbroken, it can be opened up to many threats - though almost all of them would require physically manipulating the phone. I think the largest threat would be from jilted or jealous companions, because there are quite a few nasty tracking/spying apps.
As a side note, if you suspect that your phone may be jailbroken and has the tracks covered (like Cydia being hidden or removed afterward) there are some AppStore apps that will NOT run on a jailbroken phone. If you install Time Warner's TV app, it will display a splash screen telling you that it will not run on a jailbroken phone.
If the app goes to a logon screen, you're probably 99.9% secure.
2. If you received a text message that is only a "square" character. This can be an indication that your iPhone has been compromised with a SMS hack.
So, If you suspect this happen to you, maybe you completely erase all content from the phone and restore it as a new phone. Let's wait for other comments.

it's jailbroken but i did not receive a text with a "square" character.

If it is jail-broken you no-longer have any code signing security so in some cases there are remote exploits that will work if you haven't been updating.
Also did you install SSH from Cydia? If you did, but did not change the default password you basically opened a giant back door to your phone http://cydia.saurik.com/openssh.html
