HTC Incredible 2 always goes to speakerphone.

All the sudden earlier today, my HTC Incredible 2 just started automatically going into Speakerphone mode for every incoming and outgoing call and I can't get it to stop... I have had this issue a few times in the past but a reset or battery pull always fixed it, but for some reason that solution isn't working this time. The only change I made to the phone recently was uninstall Avast Antivirus this morning.

    I have tried these things:

    1) Reset phone (via power button option)
    2) Battery pull reset
    3) Verified Dock Mode is not set to Auto Start
    4) Clean USB plug and verified no visible damage, short, or loose connector socket
    5) Re-calibrated G-Sensor

Not really sure where to go from here, thinking the next step might be a hard reset to factory defaults but really not looking forward to that option, any ideas before I take that step?

Still going on after several days. Tried booting in Safe Mode... same problem... makes me wonder if a Factory Default will actual help at all, also tried disabling "Flip for speaker" function. Do I have any other choice at this point then a hard Factory Reset?

It wouldn't be so sophisticated that it goes to speakerphone automatically if proximity sensor detected nothing? Touch Pro 2 had a sensor which made it go to speakerphone if you set the phone down.

This one has something similar, but you have to place it face down (the "Flip for speaker" feature) but I disabled it and it's still doing it. I am getting to a point I think the only choice is a factory default, going to try that tonight and see what happens. Sounds like other people have this issue with HTC phones and it might just be a USB plug fault... the factory reset is a fix about 50% of the time, I am crossing my fingers!

Wait, wait!! Proximity sensor not obscured? (That's normally just for screen, though). Don't understand the usb plug fault thing.

Well, I did the factory reset and no change, except now the Dock mode started every time I reset.

Took it in to my local Verizon store and they factory defaulted it twice, couldn't do anything with it, and tried to get me a warranty replacement, but Verizon didn't have any so they called tech support and were told there are no DInc2's anywhere, but instead they will replace it with a Samsung Stratosphere and that was only option unless I wanted to call HTC myself and see what they would do... not really sure how to feel about that, I only know one person that had one and they didn't really have anything good or bad to say about it.

I will probably call HTC tomorrow, but it looks like I am going to be stuck with the Samsung Stratosphere.

Dock "mode" is a special mode for the phone when it is in a car or home charging "dock", it will always go to the speakerphone in this case, and supposedly the phone knows it's in dock mode by a short of two unused pins on the USB connector.

Hmm...first see if you are happy with the Strat. Heard good things. If you are, fine, if not...is the dinc2 over a year old? Under warranty if you want to go through that.

See what you think for a week.

I guess you should try booting in safe mode or you can also try flip for speaker function. You can also go with reseting your factory, set it to the default option.

It is under the one year warranty (barely), but Verizon said I would have to go direct to HTC or take the Samsung, so I will give the Stratosphere a whirl, did a little research on the net and looks like it's a decent phone... I have had a few HTC phones over the years and always had good luck until this one, it was rather glitchy compared to other HTC's I have had, low speaker volume, poor headset quality, poor battery life, bluetooth disconnects, and lockups, so I guess I am willing to give the Samsung a shot, plus it's 4G which is coming to my market this summer!

@Adyhooper - Thanks, but I did try those things, it is a hardware fault in the device and is being replaced.
