few questions on how google voice works...

does it use data or minutes (outgoing & incoming)?

does it use the plan's sms or is it free when sending sms and receiving notifications?

what's the difference between the standalone google voice and groove ip?

can you use this even outside the US?

    1. For phone calls, it uses minutes.

    2. If you send text using the GV app and receive texts to your GV number, then it's free and does not use your phone's texting plan.

    3. GrooVe IP apparently lets you connect to GV using data, so you will not use your minutes.

    4. If you take your US-number phone outside of the US, then yes. Roaming charges will apply if you use your minutes/data. If you use a non-US number, then no.

You wouldn't be charged for voice roaming if you use data, but if you use data you will be charged data roaming. If you limit your usage to wifi then you won't be charged voice or data roaming.
