I am presently on CDMA, and my old BB is getting tired, and I am looking to replace it.
I have one concern to dispel before I trade it in;
I am able to travel around SE Michigan with my calls being rated as Canadian with the old network, while I roam on Verizon (SID 21).
Does anyone have experience with the HSPA network/devices being able to do the same thing while roaming on AT&T?
I spend 8-10 hours a day there and would hate to jump to the new network only to find out I have to pay roaming where I work...
Any insight is appreciated

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

Have you hard of roammobility.com?
My wife travels a lot to the US for work (out of a free roam zone) and this is the cheapest I have found for her - unltd calls within US and to Canada for $3 per day

Thanks for the reply,
Yes, I have heard of RoamMobility.
But, if I can avoid paying any extra with a move to HSPA, I'll make the switch...
If not I'll have to look for a fresher CDMA device

Ha! Lol!
I have one of those too!
If only we could use a 9650...
Your other option is to go with Mike, it also has this feature.

IDEN is even slower than CDMA!
No thanks...
Plus I would like to use the phone in obscure places like Wingham
PTT is cool though...
To CDMA needers - the BB 9670 isn't advertised any longer, but it does still appear to be available for order.

The CDMA and HSPA Network have the same Extended Local Calling Area (ELCA) in the Michigan area. KELCOM Wireless has maps of the area and show the two networks ELCA. Data is $3/mb and Texting is $0.60/text, same as CDMA, even inside the ELCA. The area is roughly Flint, Ann Arbor, Monroe, and past Port Huron.

Can you show a link, please?
I got lost on Kelcom's site... Your cities make sense, though...
Although, I have first hand experience that Chelsea falls inside the zone (Chrysler's proving grounds, to be exact)
(Watch out for Dodge branded Alpha's, coming to a dealer near you!)

Would data not be at the new rate (as of April 2012) of $5/MB?Originally Posted by dcurtisa
Yes I am sorry it is $5/mb not $3/mb.
Kelcom has them posted in their stores, and can make copies for anyone. I am on HSPA and use it there all the time. I don't like how Telus charges for texting over there now, but what can you do, except for adding a Text Pass haha.
