Will the International version of Galaxy SIII work with Telus ?

    Hey guys,
I am wondering if its worth it for me to purchase the International version of Galaxy SIII as it comes with Quad-Core processor. I want to know if it will work with Telus, and if so ... what download/upload speeds can i expect ?

    Thank you for the replies.

Sorry, No answers only more questions in this response. :-(
I am equally curious about the answers.
My understanding from the Telus will it work thread is that 3G UMTS 850/1900 bands are required.

To add confusion, the SG3 wiki article suggests that all SG3 models support these bands
    weblink is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_III#Model_comparison_table

Now there are more questions on the table....

Do you want i9300 for its Europe support despite old quad core processor, and lack of LTE?

The i747 model with its newer dual core processor should get better battery life with LTE disabled.

The T999 model also supports 850/1900 with newer processor (removes Europe+LTE), but adds 1700 AWS for use on Wind/Mobility .
Would this model also work on Telus?

    Thanks

All three versions will work with Telus. You'll be getting HSPA+ speeds (whatever they are on Telus network). Maximum HSPA+ speed supported by S3 is 42Mbps I believe.

offcourse yes! i mean all the versions of S3 will work with Telus, and the cool thing about it is that one would be having having maximum HSPA in addition to speed supported by s3 and i guess it is 42 mbps.

    ps22k,

    Greetings.

The Samsung Exynos Quad-core powered variant Galaxy S III GT-I9300 marketed elsewhere will be compatible with the Canadian Big-3 carriers' UMTS/HSPA+ networks (up to 21Mbps Downlink) in the UMTS Band II (1900) and Band V (850) i.e. Rogers, TELUS and Bell, just no DC-HSPA+ or LTE.

    Canoe Head / Adyhooper,

    Greetings.

A few things you have got it right...

    1. The Samsung Exynos Quad-core powered variant Galaxy S III GT-I9300 marketed elsewhere does NOT support LTE at all, only supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA+ with the Intel XMM6262 baseband components. It will still be compatible with the Big-3 carriers' UMTS/HSPA+ networks (up to 21Mbps DL) in Canada i.e. Rogers, TELUS and Bell, just no LTE.

    2. The Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Dual-core powered variant Galaxy S III SGH-I747 marketed for North America is LTE compatible with carriers here in the LTE Band 4 (AWS) and Band 17 (700, Lower B and C blocks for at&t). This variant will be offered by the Big-3 carriers in Canada with the DL up to 100Mbps. Also, it will be compatible with their UMTS/HSPA+ networks in the UMTS Band II (1900) and Band V (850).

    3. There is also a non-LTE dual-core variant, SGH-T999, which supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE + UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+ (up to 42Mbps DL). It will be offered by the newer carriers like WIND, Mobilicity and Videotron on their UMTS/HSPA networks in the UMTS Band IV (AWS). It is also compatible with the Big-3 UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+ networks in the UMTS Band II (1900) and Band V (850) as well.

    4. There are 2 other variants catering Verizon (SCH-I535) and Sprint (SPH-L710) in the US.
