Only SoftBank has prepaid - well, DoCoMo has too, but through a franchise - but neither work overseas (in roaming) so, no, you can't.

I was thinking,
couldn't you get prepaid service cards from Japan and use them in keitais in other countries?
Just wondering if this was possible and if anyone has done it.
I know some friends from Japan who brought over their phones but I didn't speak enough Japanese at the time to properly ask them and they didn't understand what I meant in English.

I think there are several prepaid MVNO type carriers that run on docomo. They do roaming, but it's extremely costly. Can't remember the names off the top of my head though.
If this were viable I don't think any of us would be bothering with hypersims etc![]()
iPhone 5 [64GB|Black] | HTC One X LTE | NTT docomo N-06C
Amazon has released a MVNO in Japan running off NTT. Its like 1000 yen for 250 MB or something.

But isn't that for data only??? Would be useful if I had an unlocked Huawei 3G modem.
