Hello,
I just bought an AT&T branded HTC One X with the ST AT&T SIM card. I don't think there are any Android OS updates yet for my phone but I was just wondering how would I get them. Would they be pushed over the air by HTC? AT&T? or some other way? This is an unlocked and unrooted phone, if that matters.
Thanks for any help,
Chuck

When the official updates are released, you will be able to update over the air from AT&T's servers just like everyone else. You probably should make sure you are on WiFi when you do it, just for data savings and stability sake.
I have an AT&T Avail (ZTE Z990); it is running Android 2.3.4 .
I see when I go into Settings, there is a option for "AT&T Software Update"
Under Settings -> About phone, there is a setting for "System Updates"
What is the difference between "AT&T Software Update" and "System Updates"?]
Which one is the Android system, and what is the other one?
I have not used either one, because I don't know if gives you and option to opt out once you make the selection.
Once you make the selection, does it start the download? or does it ask you if you want to proceed?
I was interested in rooting the phone, and I believe the updates might interfere with rooting the phone.
That is why I was hesitant to do the update.
Thanks to all that posted. O'Michael brings up a good question. Is there a different in the two?
I don't know the answer either . However , it would probably be best to root the phone and install and run the rootkeeper app before updating the phone. Also perform the update via wifi or data cable.
