    Public mobile cell sites

Just looked at the Loxcel cell tower map (http://www.loxcel.com/celltower) for Public Mobile in Montreal. Selecting "satellite view" confuses me because Public's sites appear to be located right on residential properties and not on top of apartment or office buildings. I also don't understand the sheer number of cell sites in the west island given the low density of the area.

    My questions are:

Is Public Mobile installing cell sites on utility poles?

Is the cell site data for Public Mobile wrong?

    Thx.

    Hi,

The June update to the Loxcel cell tower map now shows LTE cell towers.

    The map is here

    http://www.loxcel.com/celltower

And more information about the update is here

    http://www.loxcel.com/canada-cell-to...tml#9-Jun-2012

If you see anything "out of whack" related to the tower position (no, carriers usually don't deploy towers on utility poles in residential neighbourhoods) send me an email with a screen capture of the offending tower and another that shows where you think it should be.

These errors originate with Public Mobile, so you should let them know about it too.

    Thanks
You can reach us at sales @ loxcel.com

Fascinating maps, thanks! The last link (to "more information about the update") actually has the ellipses in it and doesn't resolve to a real page.

Cell tower preference is a mystery, when I did OTA scan (with QXDM) and map the towers nearby me, I set the antenna to face the closest path to the tower, yet it still connects to another tower at the opposite side.

    Hi again,

The Loxcel map was updated today with new data from Industry Canada, as of 11-Sept.

Our standard quality-control process identified errors with their beginning-of-month data. We informed Industry Canada Data right away, and as usual, they identified and corrected the problem and re-released the data. More info here:

    http://www.loxcel.com/canada-cell-to...ml#12-Sep-2012

The loxcel map features all 529 Public Mobile towers.

    Thanks
