All of that being said, take the employer's offer but keep a PagePlus handset in the glove compartment just for those occasions that require Verizon native coverage.
There is not point of having a page plus phone, Sprint can roam in Verizon. With the right PRL you also get 3G roaming not just 1x. I would carry a Page Plus if i was using AT&T or T-Mobile.
