Apple has just applied for an injunction to block the Galaxy s3 from North America hope it doesn't go thru. I guess when you start losing market share the solution nowadays is sue your competitor
100% agree.
The freezing, slow rebooting, and overall crappy web experience is a killer. Have had BB forever will miss BBM. But this phone has slowed to a crawl and it's my work phone, I can't afford to keep missing calls because the little time icon is loading while the phone is ringing, and I can't answer.
Bring it on!
If i'm an existing TELUS customer, do I have to get the phone from TELUS, or can I got to Futureshop and get this? The only reason I want to go this route is because I have Futureshop Gift Cards that I want to use.
You can go to any Telusmobility dealer including Futureshop. The only worry you might have is if they will have enough stock of the model you want to purchase or will you have to wait for it?
I don't think that Futureshop has any kind of formal waiting list though individual stores may hold a unit in reserve if you call ahead once they get their stock in.
The preorder thing is just a convenience. It's not even the fastest way to get the phone as dealers often get them in stock before your shipment would arrive depending on when they send out the preorder phones and where they ship from.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

If I pre-order using the telus website, will I receive the phone in the mail on the 20th or is that when it would be dispatched and I would be waiting for it to be delivered after the 20th?
The last time there was a preorder was for the Apple iphone 4s.
They shipped those out via Purolator ground the night before the official launch date. If you lived within the 1 day delivery area of the warehouse from where your phone was sent you would get it the next day (assuming the purolator driver didn't skip your house to make their regular business deliveries first). In our case we live in the West and Telus shipped that phone from their warehouse in the East so it did not arrive until the following Wednesday in our case. There is also a Telus warehouse in Calgary and many people in the east reported their shipments were coming from that warehouse. Telus seemed to simply allocate their stock sequentially based on the order of the preorder and did not make any effort to optimize which warehouse they used for shipments. If they do a similar thing then even if you lived right beside their east or western warehouse you might end up getting the phone shipped from the other side of the country and have to wait an extra 2 days.
The pre-order does not even guarantee that your phone will be shipping out on or before release day. Telus has not said if they have enough phones to allocate the stock available to the existing pre-orders or not and their pre-order website does not keep a real time inventory so it will continue to take orders until someone manually shuts it down.
I tried to pre-order on the website but they required that I get the $65 a month plan. It is the same plan that I get for $55. I called them and was told that if I wanted to pre-order, I would have to pay the extra $10 per month.
Otherwise, I could wait for the phones to hit the stores and get one then. Kinda sucks since the telus store won't take a pre-order.
Anyone know if it will be possible to buy the phone outright from telus, I would like to put it on a new telus Pay&Talk account.
I know in quebec I would be able to buy the phone on contract and then cancel it right away, but it's kinda a pain..
You cannot pre-order it at full pricing but once it is in stores you should be able to walk in an buy it at full price to be used on a prepaid account.
So after a bit of research I found the Telus outright price here: https://business.telusmobility.com/s...es/Smartphones
It's gonna be 699$ for the 32Gb model. Sadly the same phone will be 50$ cheaper from Bell at 649$...
In term of compatibility would the Bell's ono work fine on Telus LTE (assuming I get it sim-unlocked)?
Bell, Telus, and Rogers will be selling the exact same model of the phone. So if you unlocked a Bell sold unit it would be identical to the Telus ones.
Wind, Mobilicity, and Videotron will be selling a different variation that does not have the same radios and will not include the LTE support. (Instead having DC-HSPA with 1700Mhz for compatiblity with those networks)
Telus actually has dropped their full cost pricing from the original plan as discussed in this article:
http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/06/14/te...g-galaxy-s-iii
If the other carriers are all $50 cheaper they may adjust the pricing again before the actual launch date. It wouldn't look good to be the only one selling at the higher pricing considering they have the incentive to boost the price given the newer early termination fee calculations.
Edit: Bell pricing is showing $649 for 16GB model and $699 for 32GB model.
So the recent Telus price drop should bring them to the same price as Bell and Rogers. Everyone seems to now have the same pricing. But until they actually start selling it's tough to say if that will still be true on release day. Rogers and Bell do not actually show their full pricing on the web yet from what I can tell.

Where did you see that Bell upped their price? Last I saw was 649$ for the 32Gb
Thanks for your answer.

That's what this article says.
Bell doesn't list the full price on their website from what I can tell so there is no "official" info on their full pricing from what I can tell.
So I'll ask you the same question. Where did you see the 32GB model listed for $649? A few searches reveal similar articles to this link showing the same full pricing numbers of $649 and $699. Are you positive what you read was the 32GB model and not the base 16GB version at $649?
