Well, a solid 2GB on PP compared to an undisclosed data cap on ST should make it pretty obvious.

    Besides $45 + tax = about $50 for ST for 30 days,

and $55 - discounts and no tax (so I've read here on hofo) = $52 - $53 for PP, (and their service is for a MONTH [so they state on their site]).

So some differences there, but not a whole lot.

So now that I have (practically) unlimited texts, I can easily manage with the 1200 minutes, and since I don't use a smartphone (and don't want one) my data usage for chacking email/FB/weather/movies....is always WAY under the max. I love the TnT1200...beats my old VZW bill by over half.
PagePlus is pretty much the perfect solution for medium-to-high usage of voice/text + no-to-very low data need. There's just no competition.

It's when you need medium-to-high data in combination with low-to-medium voice/text that you have to think it through a little bit.

Has anyone done any speed tests?

Do we know if the 2GB of data is throttled?

All the website states is that it is 2GB of "data".

No it wasn't obvious which is why I asked the question. Have you been cut off or warned by ST yet? The ST cap may be undisclosed but if you are a HOFO member you know you're under it if you stay below 2GB and I think folks are a bit alarmist over there but whatever. There are more instances of people going well over that without any warning and I am sure folks that are happy never bother saying anything.
But if you have a fear of getting cut off then that is reason to move.

Let's not forget that nearly all of the ST complaints have been by users on different underlying networks, and the majority of complaints appear to be from people on GSM networks. It's much too soon to know the true facts until the actual numbers are in. I know a few users on ST locally that are not on GSM networks, and NONE of them have complained about caps or throttling. Time will tell, but it's too early to draw conclusions at this time.

My answer to make me happy would be optional data buckets that do not expire or last 4 months like the standard pins. something like maybe 500mb buckets for $10 a pop. Or an alternate would be to upgrade the unlimited T&T plan to include 500MB for the same $39.95 price. I would only purchase the $55 plan on a month where I new I was going to need lots of data for that one month.
DroidWall and Opera Mini will greatly cut down your data usage. 100mb will be enough if you turn off graphics on Gmail, use Opera Mini to surf, including Facebook and all other sites that have dedicated apps; and no Pandora or YouTube over 3g. I've been running this way for almost 2 years.

Just because some hofo members think so doesn't make it true.
Also, if some CSR stated it, it still doesn't make it true (we all know how much they know about anything).
So it still remains questionable in my eyes.

    This is most likely true.

But if you have a fear of getting cut off then that is reason to move.
I'm not living in fear I'm just doing my homework/research.

This is what I wish PPC realized. There is a segment of their customers that would use such product in offered. Those of us who use few minutes/texts but would be medium/high data users would be covered. I decided to just plainly turn 3G off in my smartphone under the Standard Plan. Not worth risking running out of balance inadvertently at PPU data rates.

That's what initially moved me off of Page Plus onto VM USA, was that PP didn't have any real data plans, it was more for minutes, which I really don't use. This was before they had the "55". That said, to your concern, T-Mobile has a pretty good data-centric plan in their $30 Wal-Mart plan. It's only 100 minutes, but overages are a reasonable $0.10/minute. And VM USA has a great data plan, provided they have good coverage in your area (they did not in mine). Unlimited to 2.5GB, then throttled to 256kbps, which is still fast enough to stream music, get email, etc.

These all include unlimited text, but I doubt if they removed it, that it would reduce the price by more than a couple bucks.

Forgive me but I don't see the value with the $55 plan. Most MVNOs have a similar or better deal. Let's examine a few.

Boost offers truly unlimited data voice and text for the same price but they reduce the price down to $40 a months after 18 months.

Virgin gives you 500 mb more data for the same price

Straight talk frequently has deals on airtime bringing the monthly cost down below $40.

Tmobile has 2 GB of FAST data for only
    more

My Family Mobile has unlimited talk, text and 8 GB of data to share for $60 per month when you have 2 lines. Additional lines @ 35 per month.

If you can get in on the beta Republic Wireless offers unlimited everything for $19 per month.

To me this deal only makes sense for customers who MUST have Verizon coverage and can't stomach Straight Talk's 3rd rate customer service

Boost and Virgin you use Sprint network. Nuff said on that.
Straight Talk you have to worry about daily limits.
Tmobile again is small coverage area.

Page Plus isn't perfect but its pretty good especially if Verizon is the best carrier for your area which is going to be a majority of the US.

I don't think there is a problem with the $55 plan. It offers virtually everything for those that want Verizon's Great Network accept for 4g which I believe will come in time. 2gig is plenty of data for all but the most data hungry users and while some other MNVO's might offer a slightly lower price none offer everything PP does.

The real problem is that there is Nothing in between that offers those of us that don't need or want unlimited T&T but just want MORE DATA. Maybe not the full 2g of the 55 plan but a lot more than 100megs that are available in the next lower $29.95 and $39.95 plans. My vote would be to simply offer 500meg data buckets for about $10 to the lower plans or simply add more data to them in the first place. If they have to adjust the prices to do so and still be profitable that's ok just don't force me to Pay $55 for a plan that only serves a part of my needs and the rest goes to waist.
Those of us who frequent this and other forums are smarter than the average Joe Cellphone user and will always look for the best plan that serves our own needs and not much more. I would venture to say that the average new customer who needs more data is very happy to pay the $55 plan price but once educated to what the competion offers will look for something different.

Verizon's 3G isn't that fast these days, that's a minus. Here it routinely drops to around 0.50 to 0.75Mbps. Fast enough, but very slow compared to HSPA+ on Straight Talk. So in the end it is coverage versus speed. Pick one. Some areas get the choice of both, many do not. Page using the Verizon network is their strongest selling point.

With Verizon pushing LTE now and moving customers there, EVDO will *eventually* free up, lots of excess capacity they can continue to milk until they drop it. That's why they have allowed Page to offer 2GB. (Just my guesses...)
