    Rogers Device Reservation

    Hi all

I am curious to know what your experience using Rogers Device Reservation has been like? When you get notification that the phone is ready to be picked up, is it actually? I know dealers can sometimes be difficult when it comes to contract renewals/HUPs.

Also, I would like to reserve the Galaxy S3, but am unclear if I can still work my new plan through retentions before I pick up the phone? Or do I need to deal with the store directly?

    Thanks!

My experience has been positive so far. Used it for the Galaxy Nexus and the GS2LTE when they launched.
The stores call you when it is ready for pickup, and both times they did, mind you though, I picked a Rogers Plus store, so they are probably going to be better than a regular dealer.
Stores won't be able to do jack from a retention stand point though, so you probably have to call in for the plan.

Well, that's good to know, thanks. I will set it up to pick up from Rogers Plus instead of a dealer.

So, to be clear...they call you when it is ready for pick up, you go and show ID and walk out with the phone?

Yes, of course you have to transact at the store since nothing happens online other than a reservation to ship a phone to the store of your choice. It's all about convenience so you don't have to run around looking for a phone.

Anyone knows what happens after they ship the phone and you decided that you no longer want it or pick it up?

The store will release it back into their regular inventory if you don't pick up the device within a certain amount of time. I believe they give you approximately 15-30 days, I can't quite remember. Either way, there's no action required on your part unless you want to be nice and notify the store so they can release it into their regular inventory earlier.

Your deposit gets credited to your next bill once it ships or the reservation is cancelled; not if you pick it up from the store.

I have a question. I have reserved the SIII but I don't want to HUP or renew anything. I just want to buy it outright. There was nothing in the agreement when you make the reservation that specifies whether you're able to buy it outright. At this point I am waiting for pricing. If full outright pricing is released before the phone ships and I find it unsatisfactory, I can cancel and get the One X (on the fence re: 16gb LTE or 32gb HSPA).

You can do any type of transaction, the reservation doesn't lock you to a specific type.
Now the only caveat is if the dealer happens to be a dbag and doesn't want to allow you to buy it outright, that could be a diff story. If it's a Rogers Plus store, you should have no issues paying full pop for it.

Thanks for that. It's not a plus dealer but I may have an IN with someone at the store so I should be able to buy it outright.

I believe I saw the full pricing on Mobilesyrup, but it may have been somewhere else.

    16gb - $699
    32gb - $749
