    Coverage in Metro Chicago

    Hello,
I have looked at the Wiki and searching, but have not found my answer.

I am interesting in the Cricket Iphone service next month. I am currently in the SW Chicago-Joliet area, and there have been a lot of dead spots here with various carriers.
Can anyone tell me if Cricket is colocated with another carrier for tower locations in my area? Trying to determine how I might receive their signal based on that info. I currently use VZ and its signal is about medium strength where I reside.

    Thanks

If your in Joliet, Verizon, and USCC are the best your going to get, period, end of story, Everyone else has so many dead zones, drop outs, etc that it makes you feel like we've went back in time to bag phones. cricket operates their own network, most colo's are with Sprint or T-Mobile for proper spacing. as everything AT&T & Verizon in this area is 800. Even AT&T Wireless (Blue)'s old 1900 GSM network has been dismantled to be moved to LTE

Cricket's Chicago network runs on AWS/1700MHz spectrum, which the iPhone does not support. I'm pretty sure the iPhone will not be available on Cricket in Chicago, unless you bought it elsewhere and are roaming. See related article:

I saw you recently posted that you had a Verizon iPhone 4 - if you still do, you could get it ported to Page Plus which uses Verizon, it's $55 unlimited with 2GB data. Or get a AT&T iPhone and use Straight Talk's $45 plan.

That's right. It won't be sold in Chicago stores. stick with VZW in that area.
