Hmm. Got my N8 yesterday, got it setup on Straight Talk. This morning, with a full battery, was downloading from the Nokia store...phone went black, will not reboot. From what I've read, this is common? Also found out the phone isn't due for Belle; can't get it to update past Anna..;(

    sounds like an RMA !

I believe all versions of the N8 had Belle available. Did you buy this new (or used) and from who / where ?
    informed/intelligent comments are welcome.

    peace,

I was downloading a speedtest CN labs app. My battery was about 95% or so. I tried plugging in the phone with the wall charger, waited a bit, and tried to boot up. The light by the usb port never lit up. I bought it off of Amazon, the Amazon fullfillment business was Zena Mobile. I am returning it anyway, this "new" phone didn't have the HDMI cable or the USB to go adapter cable with the phone, and I am sure Nokia throws in a silicone case for these phones in the box as well?

the new ones have the cables, but no case. sounds like they gave you a really old N8 or even used. all the newer batches have fixed the battery problems.

I hope so! I got one coming off of eBay, hoping for better luck. The one morning I was able to use it I was really liking it; like a Swiss army knife..

I received my next N8 yesterday, got it setup. Took some pics at a wedding last night. The reception is outstanding for pulling in AT&T in the rural areas outside of Omaha. Battery seems a bit odd. It will hang on 100 for a while, then drop to 65% rather suddenly. But I think its still doing fine....

Yeah, the battery measure is pretty wonky. Best to just measure a full day of hard use then plan against that. I get about 7-8 hours before mine dies.

Zena mobile has a lot of negative reviews for purportedly selling refurbed/defective phones as new. The latest review for N8 on Amazon was from them, I was just reading it and now see you had the same issue.

Always make sure you buy direct from Amazon - I had several N8s screw up and was glad I had Amazon to bail me out.

I've owned several Xperias but never an Arc. Now that the Arc S is only $275 from Amazon, I was thinking about snatching one up and completing the 2011 line-up. The funny thing is, despite the Arc S being much newer, the N8 is still more expensive!
I want to buy your Nokia E7.

My 4 months old N8's xenon flash stopped working although the red light still works. What to do? Anyone experienced this?

My xenon on my N8 is still going strong, so I'm not sure what your issue could be.

    Cool FaceBook

I have both the FaceBook & the Nokia Social App installed on my N8: I find the Social App to be more aesthetically appeasing but the FaceBook App to be quicker & easier to use/navigate, however, it just looks really really bad visually.
