Hello all,
I'm currently on the Tmo $2/day plan (test-driving before I buy a new SIM card and jump for the $30/m plan), using an unlocked Galaxy Nexus. The device is able to browse web pages and connect to the internet without a problem, but I can't seem to get that same access through a tethered laptop.
The tether connection appears to be fine. In fact, USB tethering works great when my phone is connected to a WiFi network. But as soon as I attempt to tether over EDGE, my laptop loses internet access.
Does anyone know why this might be? Can TMo tell when I'm tethering using the native Android feature, and block it? Or is tethering perhaps not possible over EDGE (only 2G speeds are available on the $2/day plan)? Or maybe something else?
Many thanks!
Steve Trambert

I tested it and it works for me. Could be a wifi issue, I've been unable to use wifi while connected to a tv with a mhl hdimi adapter and sometimes have wifi connectivity issues during use.
Thanks all. You're right, it seems to be an issue on my laptop's end (through both USB and WiFi tethering). I was able to tether without difficulty to my tablet.
Hello, I'm on t-mobile 30/5G walmart plan as well, but using an unlocked at&t LG P505 Phoenix. I am not able to get USB or Portable Wifi Hotspot enable. When I try enable the USB tethering in setting, it went grey out for a minute with status being Authenticating. Then a msg pops up saying" Authentication was unsucessful. There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enablement of the USB tethering function. please retry later."
Any suggestion on this?
