4S is jailbroken, should I upgrade to 5.1.1 and JB again?

    Hi

I've got my JB 4S with 5.0 firmware since launch. My baseband is still 1.0.11 but not unlocked. Should I upgrade my firmware to 5.1.1. and jailbreak it again with Absinthe again? I know my baseband would be upgraded as well. But does it really matter with the 4S? I know for people with iPhone 4 and 3GS that are unlocked, they need to keep the baseband the same.

If you ever want to unlock do not upgrade if you want some improvement and security fixes upgrade and rejailbreak.

The baseband that comes with 5.1.1 works with Gevey Ultra S sim and the GSM purchased iPhone 4S, but since Apple n' Berry have not updated their jailbreak tools for 5.1.1, you have to follow the threads here and at macrumors for the CDMA purchased iPhone 4S, to get it working with the Gevey Ultra S sim.

If you have a GSM carrier, do it, do it now.

If you have a CDMA carrier, it can be done, but it takes some work to get it to function.

In contrary belief that you should stay where it works, I recommend upgrading now as iOS 5.1.1 brings with it battery life improvements (so much better battery life) and remember once Apple stops signing the iOS 5.1.1 blobs you will not be able to update to it anymore.

Might as well do it now.

Another thing is, the Gevey Ultra S SIM works with the 2.0.12 baseband that comes with iOS 5.1.1 so that should be a sigh of relief.

I was in the same position lol debating whether or not to update if I'm already good at iOS 5.0.1 but it is highly recommended
