End of quarter... So, been busy with studying for finals.... But I have been watching the thread and seeing that I have nothing to add in debunking or proving this other then what I have been told I haven't felt a need to post. Going to go into the shop today to see If I can take a video of it all going down not that I think that will prove anything but from what I have heard the shop has done a bunch of iPhone 4's with happy customers....

@Daleraver- you have the info, I'd appreciate it if you didn't post the shops info in the thread but by all means if you know someone who has an iPhone 4/s take it in and have them do it.

**** Also, I guess there are companies on the web claiming to be able to "remote" unlock iPhones through iTunes...... Maybe the guy that is doing the unlocking for our shop has some wholesale deal with some other online company that does the "remote unlocks".
i've done so much, with so little, for so long, that i'm intitled to do nothing at all.

Guy comes back 30 minutes later with the iPhone claiming he has "Factory unlocked" it. First thing we do is put a T-mobile simcard in it and of course it works..... So, next we do an update to the latest firmware.... Once completed we put the T-mobile simcard in and still works.... No jailbreak, no gevey sim. We of course are baffled by this.... So we tear the thing apart to check and see if he has done anything to the motherboard..... Nothing, check our IMEI to make sure he hasn't swapped our iPhone(not that it would make sense to swap "Factory unlocked" iPhones for locked ones).

Can not figure out how in the world this guy has pulled this off...... Any ideas?
Don't take this the wrong way, but the whole thing sounds too good to be true.

I spent 3 hours at the shop waiting to be able to make a video of the unlocking from beginning to end but didn't happen, I did make a video of my bosses phone that was unlocked through this method..... then realized that even if I post it people can just say that it is factory unlocked.... Which it isn't.

@doolie- Dude, I know it all seems to untrue... If you live in PDX PM me and I will give you the info on bringing it in to the shop.

Tomorrow I plan on going back to the shop to get this video made..... Guess the 30 minute window is at the guy who makes this all happen convenience..... But there are 4 iPhone 4's sitting at the shop waiting to be unlocked.

Once again I know how fake and unbelievable this story seems.... But it is the truth and the sooner that is accepted the sooner..... hopefully someone can help explain what it is that goes on to make this all work.

    Why are you posting here?

Once again, ditto. Think about it.

Excuse me? No one will be touching my iPhone, you or anyone, unless you are Apple and even then I will be critical. Don't hate me because I am a critical thinker.

I think you took that the wrong way broski lol. He was saying that so you could see for yourself. I don't think he directed any hostility and he certainly didn't say he hated you lol.

That's exactly what I meant..... But its all good.

I made a video but I couldn't find a valid Sim card to show that it connected. So it ended up being a video of me fumbling around with this iPhone. So, sorry......anyhow, Happens just like stated... ITunes gives an error then you unplug iPhone, plug it back in and the phone starts to pick up a signal... update to current firmware then jailbreak to add your internet and mms settings(i'm sure there is a way to add the settings with out the jailbreak but only way I have found to get it working).

If you're going to post a video, you'll need to make it continuous, with no breaks, and show some things like bb, ios, what you used to jb with, etc.
I don't want to sound skeptical, but there's always a scam artist and a sucker to fall for it.

Well, it looks like this is just fading away since there is no new information from the OP.

Unfortunately, that's about what I expected when it was originally posted.

On the up side, I did find a local who can do exactly what the "Secret Squirrel" was supposed to do, and got two i4s's unlocked with just the IMEI for a reasonable fee. This cannot be the same person though. It took almost 5 days for my first unlock, and about 24 hours for the second one. Also, he is not interested in any face to face meetings, like the OP's subject.

Both iPhones recognize a T-Mobile sim and also one from TelCel and GiffGaff. Those are from Mexico, and Great Britain, respectively. $70 for both me and my wife's phones, total. We are going to Europe this fall, and I am buying Euro sims from Ebay for the countries we'll be visiting.

I'll contact this person and ask if he allows me to give out his contact info. If so, you can PM me for the info. I should be able to post his answer later today, he has always been responsive by text during the day.

He says it's OK to give out his info for the unlock. I used my VISA card at first, in case it was a scam, but it works fine.

    PM me for a link.

It's old news. It's all over the Internet about an exploit that allows the iPhone 4S to be so called factory unlocked, but one has to jail break to run the exploit. Not gonna do that. Besides, iPhones aren't really unlocked like regular GSM phones. They are white listed by Apple.

    Doolie,

I'm not too sure about the jailbreak requirement for this unlock. Especially since AT&T unlocked my old 3Gs from the IMEI, and they didn't require a jailbreak. What is your best reference for that?

Also, are you saying that this unlock or the one that AT&T, Sprint or Verizon apply are somehow different than an unlocked phone bought directly from Apple?

This isn't meant to be a challenge to your statements, but I'd like to get all the details available.
