When I had my Touchpad, it wouldn't allow picking up signals from Ad-hoc networks.

I'm realy hating my Blackberry Tour of late I have Boost PAY Go. First of all its constantly crashing at random. The battery is now randomly draining in a mater of minutes usually at the worst time possible so I now have to walk around with a power source at all times. Apps support is becoming increasingly rare. In fact a few basic ones that I have been using just stopped working because devs are pulling support. Lastly the biggest complaint is I have no way to tether it to my HP TouchPad since the BB doesn't have wifi and the tablet doesn't have Bluetooth lan support. I would like to be able to browse the web on occasion on the larger tablet screen in public using my phone's data connection.
I wanted to keep it legit/or legal whatnot(depend on your own views) on Boost but I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to hold on. I highly doubt Boost will be allowing Androids on Pay GO anytime soon. So I wont have much choice but to join in on the cloning movement.
I'm not so worried about the grey legal area with CDMA cloning. It's more of the threat of Sprint/Boost cracking down at some point and possibly loosing my phone number and account. I've had my number for years and wouldn't want to risk loosing it.
So I'm going to start looking a my Android options. I have a budget around $100-150 or so. Would like to put a Sprint Android device on my grandfathered Boost PayGo plan in place of my BB Tour 9630. The newer or better shape the phone is in the better. I'd like to get something that can run ICS(Android 4.0) well probably with a Custom Rom like Cynagen mod). At least a 5mp camera with LED Flash. And something that has wifi built in so I can use it with my TouchPad tablet.
I had thought about getting an original HTC EVO 4G in the past. However now the seem a bit old to me. I'm not sure what they run in a used like new condition these days or brand new on eBay. Would that still be a good option or should I look at something else? I tend to prefer HTC devices over Samsung, etc.
^ Speeds under perfect tower(average is 300-800k).

ah yeah that sounds familiar. It also doesn't have Bluetooth dun/pan support. I haven't yet given up on webOS yet and installed Android to get around those short comings.
Btw I'm beginning to suspect the biggest problems with my BB are related to a battery which is surprising because its not that old.
Ugg I was very tempted to buy an EVO 4G of ebay to replace my BB today. I need to get rid of this thing and got a little money to burn atm. Now I cant decide![]()
Getting the HTC V instead and switching to Virgin is mighty tempting(not interested in upcoming iPhone) which would get me access to 4g(WiMAX) on the $35 month plan. I wonder if u can get the same $5 monthly discount by paying with CC on file in advance like the upcoming Virgin iPhone?
However I'd like to root my phone and probably install a custom rom whichever way I go. So I can tether it to my tablet mainly. It's pretty much down to sticking with my grandfathered Boost PayGo using an HTC EVO 4G with 3G data or HTC V on virgin with WiMAX access. I've been told WiMax is somewhat spotty here.
Also not sure if Boost will limit my data to 2.5/GB or not on PayGo shortly- :/
The old saying stuck between a rock and hard place holds true for me right now![]()
I was having similar issues with my 9650. Power would go near dead all of a sudden when using data, random reboots. I took it to a Sprint store with repair center and they did something at no cost that seems to have fixed the battery issues. Unfortunately I didn't ask what (maybe swapped a used battery or did something to the battery?)
yeah that's what it was actually a bad battery. I decided to buy a new cheap one for like $10 of amazon and what a difference! This battery barely looses any power all day long. before I would have to charge it every day. I guess i just never noticed that it was draining pretty quickly besides the shutting off at random thing I new about particularly when using GPS apps. btw now those same apps work flawlessly and don't eat power like crazy. Its like a brand new BB![]()
