Son just traded his phone for a LG-C900B, Data is not working...they went to MTS and they switched up his sim card but still no Data, they told him to call tech support and gave him a number(I was not there with them when they went)...texting and phone works fine..anyone else have these issues and find an easy fix? I have not tried tech support yet as son is not home and heaven forbid he leaves home without his phone...so I figured someone here can help me out. Thanks for any input!
Sounds like they did not configure the APN correctly.
Go to "»" then "settings" then "cellular". St the bottom you will see "add apn". Input the data from the stickie at the the top of this forum. You dhould be fine. Also, ensure that the data is turned on.
The phone should work.
" Network Band* GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, 3G 850 (XT/US3G), 3G 1900"
Not sure...all I can tell you is it is not an MTS phone
Friggin kid of mine is cheesin me off!! LOL!!
He traded a BB Bold touch for your this phone....
I dont know much about phones but im sure that the guy that got the BB is laughin at my kid!!
Lol....just noticed my typo....supposed to be *this not your... Is there any other spot I can put this info in? Not to smartphone savy, so not sure what you mean by different combos.
Got it! Had to go into the actual settings on the phone and enter apn ##643# or something like that to get into those settings. Entered pw and went and entered apn and worked on first try.
I wonder if MTS can block certain SIM cards from accessing data. I have a text/talk phone with no data plan, and I can't make it use data on a smartphone, but if I pop in a SIM card from a different smartphone where the data works, it instantly works on the same phone.
So if you have an account that doesnt have a data plan on telus and you put in the ap settings you get data?
I would assume that if the sim is not attached to a data plan then it doesnt get an IP address since it wouldnt need one. But I'm no expert. If they did allow you to get data why would you want to with no contract in place you could claim it was free or they could charge $100 per kb and you would really have no recourse.
I honestly have no clue. I would imagine they block the SIM card somehow. Works better for them in case somehow abuses the data and claims they had no idea they were doing it.
No you get Data they charge you pay per use $10 per meg lol
