Unhappy Transfer of Responsibility (TOR) Credits and Savings

    Hey everyone,

I am in a bit of a pickle with my current Rogers Wireless plan. I am trying to renew my term in order to get a HUP. But the account was transferred to me from someone else and the plan that she has transferred to me has a lot of monthly savings/credits to it. When I called in to Rogers, the agent had told me that after the TOR was successful, they were supposed to take out the credit/savings. The TOR was done on Dec, 2011. So from Dec 2011 and onwards, I was not supposed to receive those credits/savings. The agent said that it's technically not my plan and those are not my savings/credits, it was the customer's savings and plan prior to me. So he said that if I were to renew the term and get the HUP, I won't be able to remain in the same plan with the savings/credits.

    Is this true?

    Thanks.

Oh he also said that I was lucky to get away with not having Rogers take out the savings/credits and that Rogers will do a yearly audit and find that I have this plan with all these savings and then take all the savings away.

Just go to a store and do the hup. Most store reps do not have access to remove credits nor do they even care. However, keep in mind most discounts have an expiration date, so if they don't fall off now, they'll fall off eventually.

Isn't there a 'help me' bulk thread somewhere???

This is a retention thread anyway. Should be in the proper forum (can we post threads in that forum yet or is it still locked?).

Officially apparently credits and such shouldn't be transferred, but they do....ALL-THE-TIME., with the exception of 'thumb-up-my-butt' rep that you were speaking to. Who the hell is he/she that he feels you don't deserve the deal as is? It's a negotiated deal for the term of the contract, at the least. Nowhere does it say upon tor will everything be removed. I'm sure that could be challenged and upheld with the CCTS, SHOULD they ever remove them illegally.

Audit mention is scare tactics, but legitimately they can certainly audit them as they wish. If they weren't given legitimately, yes of course they can be removed, but if legitimate, they should remain.

The deal with retention credits and plans is that it's all up to the rep (if you're dealing on the phone). In store, (as mentioned above), just do as you want. NOTE, that in store they won't renew credits (if they are even renewable), so if you renew for 3yrs, but the credits already where on for 2yrs, you effectively STILL have 1 yr before they expire, then for the remaining 2 yrs of your (then) NEW 3yr contract, you'd have to renegotiate or simply suck-it-up like an anti-pro-sumer and pay the new inflated prices.

There are other reps who will NEVER pass a SECOND giving you the grief that scum-rep gave you., so don't be too paranoid about it.

    Thanks B407 and bubble.tea.

I wasn't sure where to post this. I'm new at posting in forums.

I was getting a bit annoyed with the agent that I was dealing with. And I think in turn he wanted to give me a hard time cos I had to educate him on certain topics. I felt like I knew how to do his job. He didn't understand what I needed at first and since I have another account with Fido, he thought I was calling to make a change on my Fido number when I clearly called Rogers. I had to inform him that I am not making a change on my Fido account, only Rogers.

Since I was renewing my term, I was going to see if I could get some sort of monthly credit for renewing term commitment. He said that with the plan I have I won't be able to get anymore credits cos the plan I have is really good. He was trying to convince me that my plan is so good that customer relations would not be able to give me anymore credits. He went through every feature on my account and explained how lucky I am and that I won't need to make changes. -_-

I also called in to another agent a few days ago for an inquiry on HUP and he told me that I can do a HUP. He was cooperative. Now when I was talking with this rep today, he told me that HUP is not possible at all unless I call back near the end of my commitment. But I know full well that after 2 years of being in a 3 year commitment, HUP is possible without early upgrade fees. At that point I was annoyed cos he was telling me different information. When I informed him of what I knew, he put me on Mute, not hold, so he was able to hear if I would say anything, though I didn't. He put me on Mute for 10 minutes and then he spoke to me again and said all these things about the audit, TOR not supposed to have credits etc. He was persistent in getting me over to customer relations to obtain the HUP and get all those credits removed. He kept asking are you sure? That means you won't be getting your blackberry! I told him I would put second thought to it and call back but he kept insisting that I speak to customer relations so that I can get a "NEW BLACKBERRY"... I think I might've pissed him off cos I educated him a bit. Nobody likes other people to tell them how to do their job. LOL

One last thing, I don't think the credits have expiration dates to them. Certain invoices have something like "value pack discount 3yr" mine doesn't have it. But I can always call Rogers and discuss the expiration dates for those credits.

The rep is right about certain things. The hup rules have changed, and customers are no longer eligible for a HUP without early HUP fees unless the commitment associated with the last subsidized device is over. This policy change affects ALL customers. Also, retentions have become a lot less generous so chances are the rep was right about not being able to add additional discounts.

Most credits do have an expiration date. Rogers is rarely ever that generous to give lifetime credits. You should call and discuss any expiration dates for credits or promotions to avoid bill shock in the future.

^ There are indefinate credits and term-based credits. Has nothing to do with anything but the luck of the draw in which rep you get. I have several indefinate credits.

Heck, some people (*cough*., won't be named), have even been graced with glitches, whereby their term-based promos have magically turned into permanent ones LOL. Imagine an unlim FOS or unlim Data 3month credit turning into a permanent one? . So jealous!!!

I would actually suggest NOT to do that, as the current climate isn't a retention favouring one. If you can, push it back right up until the last few months of your credits expiring. Hopefully by then the climate would have changed.

Your initial bill after the TOR, or after significant price plan changes will indicate the expiry dates of any such credits. On any other bill, they won't display any expiry date. You can also view your dates thru a nice archived/cached link somewhere in this forum, after you've logged into your online account. Search for 'expiry dates' & "credits". Something like that.

to me this is not true.
to me when you do TRANSFER OF RECORD or TRANSFER OF Contract.
you are assuming / continuning the plan from the original contract

they cant remove the savings because its not yours... its yours because you assumed the plan
    its a complete BS
