Recently switched from H2O $40 plan to Simple Mobile's $40 plan. And I have to say that after reading about all of the horrendous speeds people were complaining about (and rightfully so, as it's definitely not 3G), I thought it would be unbearable.
However, browsing speeds are great on my iPhone 3GS. Obviously its on edge, but im getting 120-170kbps download speeds. This is not useable for streaming music and watching videos, but it's great for browsing the web. No page takes more than 10 seconds. This speed is perfect for me.
Just my $0.02

Junk speeds! Cough up the additional $5 and just get real speeds with Straight Talk and go for the T-Mobile sim if you absolutely need T-Mobile, otherwise take AT&T.
Using the web on 120 Kbps in 2012 is just not normal! Maybe it was fine 3 years ago but come on who wants to wait for sites to load up at all?
Believe me, I've been so tempted to switch to simple mobile but every time straight talk throttles me for using around 3GB In a month, and I feel the edge speeds, I'm reminded that I wouldn't be able to deal with it. It's not really really slow to make you tear your hair out, but slow enough to over time put you on a mild dose of Levitra.
Actually simple mobile is fast enough for streaming audio. I do rhapsody and tunedin radio. Iheart is supposed to work even better but I don't like it.

If you want to be technical then it's not $10 difference, it's actually $7.
Straight Talk is $45 even without any taxes using the CA, NH, OR, etc. zip code trick on Walmart.com
$7 more for faster speeds is definitely worth it!
But if a fast data experience isn't a must for you then going with Simple Mobile is the best deal in wireless today for unlimited talk, text, and data (the cap is 3GB, but sometimes they won't shut your data even with 4GB...it's all a matter of luck).
I was shut down at 3gb, but I had to work pretty hard to use that much at such a slow speed. I have a drawer full of sims so I sacrificed one as an experiment.
I was also shut down after 10,000 minutes in another experiment.

Callingmart said $39.60 when I checked out their site (must have change). I'm a new simple mobile user (just finishing up my 1st month). I got mine PIN for $38 at prepaidwise (dot com).
