Hey all. I am a current T-Mobile Prepaid customer, using the $50 plan, with unlimited voice and text, plus 100MB of unthrottled data, and throttled thereafter.
I dropped my phone off a radio tower yesterday...was a nice G2. Damnit. SIM and SD cards were recovered undamaged from the impact crater.
Ordered a unlocked/jailbroken iPhone 32GB running 4.1 this AM. it should be here tomorrow. No accessories, no box. I did already pick up a USB cable for it.
I have been searching about how to get the data and MMS running on it and it doesn't look like it will be that big of a deal. I am curious though, what will I have to to activate it? I believe the existing SIM was tied with a code to the G2 phone. Will I need to figure out the new code for the phone and have TMobile update it, or should the old code work, and its just tied to the phone at first?

The SIM card (as long as you are indeed on TMobile) is not tied to the phone in any way. If your phone is unlocked, pop in the SIM card, and away you go.
You may need to change APN settings to work with your carrier, if the phone was initially from a different carrier. You can search for the appropriate settings, and how to change them.
Great! It is currently unlocked and jailbroken under 4.1. I have found the settings Ill need to tweak. Do you have a link on how I can upgrade it to the latest copy of iOS 5? I know that if I just update it, it will lose the unlock...would I sucessfully be able to re-unlock and re-jailbreak it on my own after the update? (I know I am getting way off topic here.)
