If the service didn't work out well then no sense of keeping them. However What do you mean by it not being economical? Isn't RW cheaper then the 30 dollar plan that Tmobile offers?

I decided today that I would cancel my Republic Wireless service, and revert to going solo with T-Mobile; this requires me to get a new T-Mobile phone so I can make better use of my data plan (since I'm currently have the Samsung t409) and get GPS navigation.
I wanted to let everyone know, the last few months with Republic have been pretty good. I had a few problems with calling 9-1-1, which I pray have been resolved for the safety of all of you who will continue to use the service; unfortunately after trying to get an update on the trouble ticket I submitted concerning this issue, I did not get a response (neither via e-mail nor on the forums).
I have to say that WiFi calling has improved, and the cellular calling was great both on Sprint and while roaming - the data speeds were also good. I enjoyed my first Android handset and will keep it around to use the apps via WiFi - who knows, maybe some day I will re-activate, just now it is not economical. I do hope to see them get a more advanced MMS platform, the one they rolled out is so primitive (it reminds me of the days of Sprint Picture Mail). And, it would also be nice to allow SMS via WiFi. All-in-all it is a great concept and wish them the best of luck, and hope all of your guys enjoy their service.

T-Mobile. Connecting you when you need it most... disconnecting you when you need to connect with God's beautiful creation! Service is great in cities and highways, but in rural areas they leave you with just your surroundings. I encourage you to get T-Mobile, disconnect for a while!
I am glad that God is not like cell phone coverage. He does not hide behind mountains or loose us down long windy roads. The Lord levels mountains, and He makes our paths straight!

Yeah, I'm reading on other forums and blogs that people are now starting to leave RW for their lack of communication with paying customers. They've pissed off alot of people with their May 30 stunt of waiting until the bitter end of a 6-week silience period just to tell everybody, "Hey, we are going to miss yet another deadline that we gave ourselves, we'll let you know in another 6-8 weeks."
Instead of sending them another email (which they are horrible at answering or outright never respond), just call them and cancel.
Republic Wireless phone numbers:
919-297-1079 - Brian Dally, manager
919-297-1010 - David Morken, ceo
919-297-1037 - Adam Oakley, order fulfilment specialist
Tim Jones, cellphone product specialist
Jessica Orr, marketing/community specialist
919-297-1100 - this is an automated company directory. If you know the last name of someone at RW, you can reach them that way too
I got my line cancelled. I received the confirmation e-mail. I then got a follow-up e-mail asking how they could improve; so I told them what I thought.
After that my phone stopped working, completely. It will not even register on a WiFi network... I did read somewhere a while back that the phone would become a brick until you re-activated it - I guess this is true... and you are not able to sell it either. I guess it is a paperweight for now...
Glad to be fully back on T-Mobile; looking now at purchasing a Nokia Astound.
RW phones don't work after termination of service on WiFi?!! If true I'm officially out. I also use my last phone as a media player for work in my session room.
I'd go with Tmobile, but they don't have service in a UW college town by me, which is unacceptable. I don't even know how they can miss that lol.

You could try flashing it to work with Page Plus. Since that's a Verizon MVNO, it wouldn't matter what Sprint and/or their MVNOs think.
What plan are you going with, and what did you say to get it at $24.
I've been looking at the T-Mo plans, but their coverage stops a few miles down the road, so i don't have many options.
It's actually $23.33/month to be exact; I get unlimited talk/text/data on nationwide cellular with nationwide roaming, and unlimited international hotspot roaming.

$0.00 - Unlimited Mobile-to-Mobile (full BAN)

UPDATE: I finally found a way to use my RW LG Optimus, once it's out of their system, a few days after you request cancellation, then you can use it on WiFi - that's what I've been doing, since they don't sell well on e-bay. If I find a friend in need who has Sprint, I'm willing to give it to them - I did stop by a Sprint store and the gal told me that the phone was able to be used on the Sprint network (contrary to what RW CS had told me upon cancelling); she checked the ESN and scanned the phone into her system with positive results - glad RW kept the Sprint logo on it!
Great update tmobiley. I guess worst case scenario I believe you can flash almost any CDMA phone Bad ESN or not to Metro PCS & maybe Cricket. They don't call'em the Metro PCS mafia for nothing.
