Question questions about VM's iPhone roaming

    From http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_d...rticle_id=2305:
"iPhone will be available without a contract and with no fees for activation or roaming."

So what network(s) would it get to roam on? Is this just talk? Does it include text roaming? What about data roaming? To me this roaming news is (potentially) just as big and the iPhone news.

I wonder if VM is going to start offering roaming for other phones/plans?

As of 7/1/12 Virgin will allow roaming on all phones at no charge. There is a thread about it below.

According to the latest posts in that thread, roaming is NOT coming to VM.

Virgin Mobile USA Hi everyone. I need to clarify comments about roaming on Virgin Mobile. Roaming is not available. We did recently update our terms and conditions (effective 7/1/12) in order to make our language more consistent with Sprint’s. There is a new reference to roaming, but we have no plans to add roaming at this time. For information on whether roaming applies, see your service plan details. Our sincere apologies. ^Justin C

What's the source?, I'm not finding anything but if it's true let's see it.
    Sprint: $40.99 - $73.00 per month
Sensorly Maps: Sprint LTE active in 26 States

I'm surprised about the lack of discussion on VM's iPhone having the ability to roam. Perhaps that's why their ToS was being updated -- because the iPhone will have that feature. Then again, perhaps the mention of roaming in VM's press release (on the iPhone) was just another mistake.

Obviously if roaming was coming it would be with Verizon. They announced that it was coming 7/1 on their Facebook page before back peddling a couple of days later. Who knows, maybe they're just postponing it because of all the commotion/confusion with the release of the Evo and now the iPhone.

If Sprint does provide Off Network Roaming exclusively on the prepaid Virgin Mobile iPhone it will makes it easier for numerous AT&T, T-Mobile, and VZW contract subscribers to switch to VM's ridiculously affordable iPhone service.

Operating without a contract makes you far more valuable.

ToS is legal speak. There's no roaming charges because there's no roaming. There's no story here.

Then why did VM specifically mention roaming in their press releases for the iPhone (see the post that started the thread for the link)?

You're reading too much into that single line. Longtime VM users know that "No roaming fees" has been a VM marketing catch phrase since day 1. It has always meant the same thing - there are no roaming fees because there is no roaming.
