HELP WITH SKYPE iPhone 4S

My friend just installed the Skype app for his iPhone 4S and I am using the desktop Skype and we tried a video call last night and he said he couldn't see me and his screen was black. How can we get the video calling for Skype work?

I've seen it work for users on YouTube tutorials and Android users.

So since you said he couldn't see you, it appears as though the connection was made, is that correct? Could you see him? If not, are you sure a video call was initiated and not just a regular voice call? Are you both on the latest versions of Skype? HAve you tried skyping with other people to make sure your video signal is even going out properly? Have you checked your webcam in other programs to make sure it's not malfunctioning?

Edit: and yes, it should work, I have skyped between my phone, ipad, ipod and computers and all configurations between and it has all worked so one skype should video call on any other device with Skype as long as they all have functioning cameras

Did you see a preview of your self in your skype window? Run the skype video setup to be sure it is setup correctly... Also as stated make sure you update to the latest version.

It works, I have had PC to iPhone/iPad calls many times.

Yes I just updated it yesturday and when I got a video call from my iPhone 4S friend I did see myself in the video but his screen was black with background noise. I told him a lot of users were using 3G or Wi Fi and he asked me what those were. So I think that's the reason why the video calling isn't working.

So now my question is how do you activate Wi Fi on the iPhone 4S so I can tell my friend.

We got the audio to work but it echo's thats an issue and the video still isn't working correctly. I can still see myself on webcam but he says he see's me as a black screen. I see him as a black screen as well. Here's a pic of what our screen's look like. AGAIN HOW CAN WE FIX THIS ISSUE?
