AT&T 30 day exchange how does it work

Well this is my first time I do this.I just got a HTC vivid 2 days ago but don't like it that much .I was thinking of exchanging it for galaxy s3 when its release. Do I have to pay restocking fees ? Can I go to different store from where I bought it like a corporate store?

Take the phone to the original place of purchase. There is a restocking fee of at least $30. You can only do one exchange every time you do an upgrade.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

Your best option is to reverse your upgrade and wait for the phone you want. If it takes longer than thirty days for that phone to be released, you are stuck with the phone you do not want. Then you would have to pay full price for the phone you want.

Keep in mind that the carrier cannot re-sell a used phone as new, thus decreasing profit margins.

Also, it is well known that some folks routinely "try out" phones and just return them in the required time frame with no intent to keep the device. The restocking fee helps discourage this behavior. If that didn't happen so often there would be no restocking fee. Kind of like people buying a big screen TV the day before the Superbowl and return it the day later.

Too many people try to "game" the system and we all pay for it in the end.

And the restocking fee all started with the original iPhone. Prior to the iPhone, the carriers did not charge restocking fees. Apple required a 10% restocking fee for returning the iPhone. Once the carriers realized that customers are willing to accept restocking fees, then they started charging it on all their phones.

Actually, I remember that when I was still an At&t CS rep there was a written policy about restocking fees before the first iPhone. The catch was that most retail stores didn't enforce it until the iPhone came out.

I didn't pay a restocking fee when I exchanged my Nokia for a Samsung Note! Wonder why, if it's policy.

Store and CS reps do have the flexibility to waive some charges if they clearly document their decision and/or get manager approval
