Are you talking about the PRL and firmware updates?
I did those and while they helped overall the issues I described were after the updates.
Is there something else?
Also-It says in the manual that you cannot DC in roam-does an update fix that?

There are two seperate over the air updates that will fix most of your issues related to the Duramax and duracore. Do them first, before taking any more steps!
They will resolve the roaming issue, and allow you to DC over roaming. Allow the phone to receive incoming calls better, and not send them to voicemail.
Try them first, they made a HUGE difference in the usability of these units!

The current firmware upgrade for DuraMax and DuraPlus is 1.101sp. Previous firmware versions will not support SDC in Roam. If your DuraMax and DuraPlus units still won't SDC in Roam, you need to contact your Sprint account representative. Sprint is replacing my DuraMax's with DuraXt's because of the SDC Roam and audio quality issues.

NEXTEL. Done. I guess that's "Life at SprintSpeed"

We honor his memory.
Yes my DuraMax and DuraPlus units would not SDC while roaming. I have not had a problem with my DuraXT using SDC in 1XRTT Roam (Verizon).
A Sprint Ericcson engineer assigned to my Sprint trouble tickets confirmed there is a software issue which prevents 100 percent SDC operation even in Sprint areas. As a result, Sprint is testing SDC reliability in other markets besides Southern California to verify users complaints.
Just on the Duramax and Core??? Or on all SDC units???
And.... Do you notice a huge difference between the Max and the XT???
I really want to know what the major flaws of the Max really are.
I have been missing calls, going right to VM. Curious if this is related.
I have documented SDC problems on DuraMax, DuraPlus, and Motorola Admiral. There are approxiamtely 350,000 of these devices currrently on Sprint.
I have from Sprint and Kyocera documentation for reasons behind discontinuation of DuraMax and introduction of DuraXT. I have requested service credit from Sprint for SDC problems and have received over $1,500 in credits in the past four months. Not to mention Sprint has agreed to replace my 89 existing DuraMax's with DuraXT's as a result of my complaint to Sprint Executive Offices.
The major differences between DuraMax and DuraXT are:
1) Receive Audio Output is greater in DuraXT
2) Receiver Audio Distortion is less in DuraXT
3) Receiver Audio Quality is better in DuraXT
4) Freezing up requiring battery removal is far less in DuraXT
5) SDC is more reliable in Sprint / 1XRTT areas with DuraXT
As far as your problem with calls going into voicemail without ringing, I have reported this problem to Sprint. It started around March 30, 2012 when Vision Nowbase station software was upgraded. Sprint has acknowledged this to be a continuing problem for CDMA/1XRTT users and apparently does not affect EVDO users. Sprint has no timeframe for resolution of this particular issue.
Thanks for this.
I am confused about something-
The regular voice calls are 1X and the SDC is on 3G, is that correct?
They are not intertested in fixing the new issue with 1X users not being able to email pictures to social media or email addresses anymore either. When they discontinued SPM, they "Forgot" to make a workaround for this issue. It is hugely annoying to buy 3 new phones, that now can no longer email pictures to FB or Twitter. Regardless of how many calls I make, their response has been, "You need a smart phone".....
More questions-
Does the XT take the same belt clip as the original Duramax?
When you roam does the DC switch to 1X of the roaming provider? You don't roam to another 3G provider?
Another question-Can you actually read your lat long coordinates on the Plus?
I can't find where you can actually tell your GPS location.
The DuraMax and DuraXT use the same belt clip. The SDC will switch to 1X of the roaming provider. SDC doesn't require 3G EVDO service anymore.
The DuraPlus does not provide lat long coordinates. Sprint Navagation will give street address only. There is no 3rd party application for GPS info display.
