Can I use CDMA smartphone with SIM card on telus?

Can I use Verizon Galaxy Nexus on Telus?
Its roam in telus and bell network fine, 3G data(EV-DO) works fine, LTE should be fine, cause it same for CDMA and GSM.

Can I use it? Maybe unlock(but never hear about unlock for CDMA) needed?

are there CDMA voice+data plans on telus? they sell only GSM, but CDMA network exists and works fine canada-wide

^I am not going to comment on Verizon cdma phone to able to work on Telus CDMA Network, A simple search would have given you the answer but I will comment on the GSM part. Telus doesn't not have a GSM Network so they do not sell GSM, having said that Telus HSPA+ Phones do support GSM frequencies.

    jattdesi, Voice over HPSA?

Yes, simple search give me ansver, no. but all answers about old phones
To connect old phone you need provide ESN to operator, dial *228.....
for my phone - just install sim card.

you need only to activation sim. it can be done with another phone.

technically its not a sim, its removable user identity module (RUIM)

HSPA+ is GSM. Just not 2G GSM.

No. Verizon CDMA phones cannot be activate on Telus.

On the CDMA network the serial number of the phone must already be in the Telus inventory database to be activated even if the phone has the technical ability to work it will not be eligible for activation and no front line telus employee or supervisor has the ability or authority to add the phone to the network or make an exception.

About the only phone that Verizon sells with a compatible HSPA+ frequency is the iphone 4s but it must be unlocked by verizon in the master Apple activation database before you could make it work on Telus. The Verizon version of the Galaxy nexus only has 700Mhz for it's LTE radio which Telus does not use and it only has CDMA which is impossible to activate with Telus. So the answer is a defninte no. That phone cannot be activated on Telus or any other Canadian carrier for that matter. The only use of the phone in Canada will be when roaming on a Verizon plan.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

And keep repeating that until the opponents of technological precision cave.

The fact that HSPA and other UMTS technologies are advanced by the GSM industry does not make HSPA = GSM and only serves to confuse people when they can't understand why their GSM phone won't work on an HSPA network.

HSPA is closer to CDMA than GSM... there's a reason why it's called WCDMA
