What serial number is to be entered for your own byod

It asks for the serial number of the phone that was bought but a phone wasn't bought, its byod.

So what serial number do they want?

Called corporate for my brothers new activation and port and tried online and doesn't let us continue the activation.

when you buy the boyd sim and port your number to the sim,you should just be able to put the sim in your new phone edit the apn settings and go.

The directions clearly state to use the Tracfone provided S/N off the red activation card included with the SIM. This allows you to move the SIM to other phones as often as you wish without having to notify Tracfone.

Ok, that makes sense of course.
To move the Sim from phone to phone like the old days of the e71.

But what S/N is this from on the red card if one is using their own device? That's what I don't quite understand. Where are they producing this S/N from?

Just curious before he ports his number over.

It's just a technicality/formality, apparently necessary for the way their system keeps records. Even with conventional GSM/SIM carriers (i.e. AT&T/T-Mobile) when you do an activation, you're really only activating the account to the SIM, not the phone; but you have to list a phone S/N at that beginnning point. It never keeps you from moving the SIM around. Just take a survey of AT&T or T-Mobile users and see why they like GSM phones.

That S/N on the card fulfills the system requirements, and also probably lets them know that the product is their BYOD SIM.
