Galaxy S2 (i9100) doesn't register SIM card after SAMSUNG brought it in for service

    Hi,

My samsung galaxy s2 (i9100) was bought unlocked, but after sending it in to SAMSUNG for service, it appears to now be locked.....I'm not sure if it is though, as I've never had a locked phone before. Here are my main problems:

    1) It doesn't read my SIM Card
    2) It asks for a "network lock control key" when I reboot it - never had this before.

I ensured it wasn't a bad sim card by using multiple other ones and they all were not recognized by the phone. With that being said, they were all from the same carrier (fido - i'm from canada). I believe my phone should have been from Bell, but I bought it unlocked and my original SIM worked fine on the phone....for some reason, its having troubles with this now that it has been serviced. Also, I'm pretty sure my original phone just got switched cause the IMEI no longer matches the one from the original box. I'm guessing that the phone is now locked, but I'm not sure if I still have a problem with the SIM card not registering (as in that is a whole separate issue).

Please help me! I greatly appreciate it!

Sounds like it was switched and is locked. I would assume the same. You could probably get it unlocked by paying for an unlock code. Google it. I don't want to recommend anyone.

I would suggest you check out XDA, for you might very well be able to get that code for free.

Did you check with whatever Samsung service center you dealt with and see what they have to say about this?
